Photoshop going crazy?
I have previously received the attached message, but this time PS is adamant that it will not open this file, despite have done so on previous occasions. What could be the cause, and more importantly, the solution? |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
Could the file extension have been changed? |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
Hi Steve Definitely not, I renamed the file, still using the .tif extension, and no luck. Maybe I must try saving it as a .PSD file; will do and revert. |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
Also did not work, when I tried opening as PSD, PS came up with the page for 'New". Odd indeed. |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
Very strange. Could be that the file has somehow been corrupted. If you want to forward it to me via YouSendIt or similar, I'll see if I can open it here. |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
You could use Dropbox, if you have that, or just email me the file if it's not too big. c@plin.com |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
This gets, to quote Alice: curiouser and curiouser: using winzip, it tells me that the file size is 0 bytes, and the compressed size also 0. Therefore I must assume that the tif file is now an empty shell. Clicking on the file in Bridge tellingly omits the 'properties' function. I shall take the whole lot off to a local wizard, and let you know the outcome. ![]() |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
That's your answer, then - Photoshop can't open it because there's nothing in it! |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
Apologies for the delay in responding: this explain the 'what', but still leaves the 'why' and 'how' wide open. It is not a huge issue in my life, as I have regular backups, but would still like to know what is cooking ![]() |

Re: Photoshop going crazy?
This looks like a problem with your hard disk, rather than one generated by Photoshop. Out of my comfort zone! |
