What's a good background to go with this image?
Actually come to think of it, how can I improve it in general? It needs a lot of work but I'm not sure how exactly I can make it look more convincing. It's for my media project at school.

Thanks

maybe a background of falling cash... or one of cash

or a background full of the front view of all the different brands of cigarettes. Make sure that they are small enough so as not to take away from the foreground though. You may have to repeat the texture about half way down...

What about one of a texture of tobacco leaves?

not sure, really if those would work. Hopefully, they may inspire you into the right direction though.

As a suggestion for the image, you may want to use gaussian blur on the edges of the guy and cigarette. That will fade him into the montage better rather than look as though he was cut out of a photo and pasted onto your graphic. The shaddow behind him is great though. Really like the Text scattering affect. How did you do that, by the way?

Regards,

Chris

I think a dark background, to make the lettering and the cigarette really stand out. I'd tend to go for something fairly abstract, rather than detailed: you don't want to distract from the main image. Dark clouds, maybe? Or just some random texture?

A couple of suggestions:

1. Change the angle of the cigarette slightly. It looks at first glance as if it could be held under his arm.

2. Add some red to the tip to make it glow!

3. That text at the bottom is far too condensed to be easily legible. Upper and lower case is always, always more legible than all capitals; if there are too many words, put them on two lines!

Thanks Steve, I really had to look at that for a while before I could make a suggestion...I hope that he saw your post before he got too far into my suggestion if he decided to go with one of my ideas.
