Does This Really Look Like A Hole?
I understand a bit Paul's comments from a week ago. There are some wonderfully talented postings showing up on the Friday Challenge and I frequently wonder "How Did They Do This? The thing I particularly noticed this week was the creation of rubble, mud and sand. this was about the best that I could come up with. Does it REALLY look like a hole in the street? I would like it if we did a bit more technique sharing and thus learned more from eachother.

mguyer, that's terrific!

I like the chunks of asphalt. The only thing I'd change would be the pile of dirt on the right, it needs to cascade evenly on the left and right sides. It seems to favor the left side right now.

But It looks like a hole to me.

Well, what are we here for? To cheat or to take short cuts, of course.

My shortcut was that I simply located the home page of an excavator manufacturer (Caterpillar in the US?) and found some pictures of dirt there. If you go that way you wont have create your own dirt.

You can see the result of my efforts in the attached picture. For higher resolution you can find the same picture in Friday Challenge 85.

Thanks for the advice Whaler...I guess that's what Steve got us to do this week when he gave us no picture to start with but rather a theme.
