LCD Screen
I'm having difficultly making the following "text" appear as if it is on an LCD screen. Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Re: LCD Screen
Is this the kinda thing you mean? if so let me know and I'll show you how it's done.... terrible font to use for this effect though... a more blocky square type would be much better.... some of the letters didn't quite come out because I had to remove the white background from your text.... and that's never a great job... but it gives you the idea.... ideally this effect is better applied directly to the text layer

Re: LCD Screen

Re: LCD Screen
Thanks, Dalton!

It looks good!
I can see that you added a drop shadow, but I'm not sure how you made the grid effect?

I used a font called DS-Digital which simulates an LCD effect. All the text was done as individual layers using a suitable grid with 'snap to grid'. A background of 8s was added to the numerical data to indicate segments of numbers not in use, the opacity set very low. All of this was blurred slightly. Finally a layer of black and white stripes, gausian blur and plastic wrap filter to give the impression of a perspex cover.

Good job rufus.. was gonna use a digital font to do this myself... just seemed too easy... but hey!...easy is always best

Re: LCD Screen
Technically, you'd really only need to create a digital 8. You could then use it as the template for most of the display.

Re: LCD Screen
I actually thought you wanted it to work with a particular font...or any font for that matter... kinda like the more modern LCD displays.... but the Digital Font is definitely a good idea... this was the kind of thing I meant....

I meant this one lol....

But seriously though... I would go with John's idea... my version is very complex and involves making different sizes of grids and loads of layers... trust me to think of the hardest way to do sumthing John's is more to the point and a lot less complicated to do.. good stuff
