How is this done? - Dove advert
Can anyone help? I saw this video on youtube about retouching a photo of a face. It's quite quick, but in it they use a Photoshop type program, where they select areas of the face and then move them with a liquify type distortion around the edge of selection. Can this be done in CS2 or is it a plugin or just a video trick? Cheers here's a link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz5IRdFIpvA |

Don't know what the software is but the antidove spoof is brilliant. |

Sure this can be done. Takes some time and a little skill, and the movie moves really fast! If you look close though, it looks to me like they are just doing some pretty basic edits, using layers, transform, clone, erase, etc. They pretty obviously didn't show all of the details of the work involved. |

I agree with you on that, Dave. If you slow the movie down, i.e click on the play/pause button frequently, you get to see the individual steps fairly well. _________________ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Here is an example that I threw together really quick using some of those techniques. This is a photo of my sister-in-law from last christmas. The top is the original photo, and the bottom is the touched up version. You may notice the neck is a little longer, the eyes have been enlarged some, and she has been de-aged a bit. |

Cheers guys, I really appreciate you having a look at this. Eggbox, yes that antidove spoof is great, it’s amazing how accurate it is to the original. The thing that’s bugging me comes just after the screenshot below. The head is selected and then dragged up, with the neck and hair below stretching to fill the area. I also don’t think that the user interface is the same as Photoshop. Anyway, Thanks again. |

That spoof is brilliant. Trouble is - that guy is everywhere you look these days. |

Pete, I know that it looks impossible, but it is really quite easy. If you look at the example that I posted, you will notice that I did the same thing here. You can tell because the chin is no longer sitting on the collar. What they do not show you, is that the neck was cloned upwards in a back ground layer before moving the head up, giving the illusion that they are stretching the neck up. Pretty cool trick though. |

If you go onto the website of the company that produced the video they explain a little about how it was made. The graphics program is a complete fake. It was made using Quantel. It was made to look a little like photoshop but not enough to get into copyright troubles. |
