How do you draw clouds?
Hi guys, I learned to draw a golf ball from Colin Smith and developed a grass technique from Matt Kloskowski, but wanted to draw clouds from scratch in PS. In this Pic all is from Scratch in PS apart from the Clouds...can anyone help? |

Why not us the clouds filter? If you are determined to draw them from scratch, I would suggest a large soft brush on a new layer, alter the brush options in the pallette to randomise the shape, spacing, colour and angle / roundness of the brush, and then apply a low opacity gradient to each cloud and maybe some dodge and burn to make them more 3d? I wouldn't worry about a brush. I always have a stock of sky pictures. I would just pick a suitable one copy and past into. I then used replace colour to get the new sky closer in colour to the original one. |

I agree, the clouds filter will fill the whole area. It is just a building block. You use as much or little of it as you want to accomplish what you want. Personally, I agree with Vibeke, Use an existing sky and adjust it to fit. That's the method I almost always use. |

do a goolge search for "free cloud brushes photoshop" and download some and just stamp them in on a new layer, then you can add a bit of blur, play with the opacity etc - there's a whole host of free brushes out there - I have just downloaded about 300 in various categories from gravestones to flying birds - they are superb additions to the photoshop default ones. |
