bright flare
Hi everyone Does anyone know how to create a flare of light, the sort of thing you see in a horror logo, where it bursts out in beams from behind a closed door. In this case, it will be bursting out from behind a logo. Cheers Chris |

Re: bright flare
Chris, is this what you want to create? if so try this. For this logo, I used a solid white logo. 1. Create logo and center in middle of document. Duplicate layer and turn that layer off. 2 On the original layer go to, Filter > Distort > Polor Coordinates. Select Polar to Rectangular 3. Press Ctrl T to bring up the Free Transform. Right click and select rotate 90CW. 4. Filter > Stylize > Wind. For the Method, select Wind. For the Direction, select From the right and click OK. Press Ctrl F to apply the filter 2 more times. 5. Press Ctrl T to bring up the Free Transform. Right click and select rotate 90CCW. 6. Go to, Filter > Distort > Polor Coordinates. Select Rectangular to Polar Center logo in the document and use the free Transform to rotate to make it straight. 7. Filter > Blur > Radial Blur. For the amount: 100. Blur Method: Zoom Press Ctrl F to apply the Radial Blur again. If you want, you can apply a layer style to this using the Gradient Overlay or Color Overlay Now turn the duplicate copy layer on and add any layer styles to it if you want. I hope this helps. Luis |

Luis, you're clearly some kind of genius. Have you written a book yet? |

Re: bright flare
Me a genius? I don't know about that. I'm still learning things in photoshop. Actually, I learned this technique a while back in a book. So when I saw this topic, I just shared what I learned. What I like about this effect, the rays fit well with the logo. I haven't written a book, but I can make a book in photoshop from your tutorial Steve. Luis |

Nice one Luis, dunno where you read it, but i learnt that method a while ago when i first started Photoshop. It was in a tutorial on how to make an eclipse (yes steve i LOVE eclipses as you can tell now) out of nothing. I never though of applying it to a logo though, it really fits nicely !! Well done ! Really ingenius ! Swade Edit : actually i just googled "tutorial photoshop eclipse" and you find that technique on the first tutorial you come accross ! |
