Hey, new to the forums and need help!
Hey guys hows it going, here is a little bit of my background. Born in San Francisco blah blah blah, moved to Philadelphia. Currently trying to learn new techniques in Photoshop CS2. I am currently attempting to turn my Caucasian friend to look like a black man. It's kind of a joke (not racist or anything), here is the picture link in case you need to know. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/connorita/OriginalPorter.jpg A guide to doing it would be nice, or if you feel like you have free time you can have a go yourself. I hope I'm not intruding on your lives with this request. Thanks. Thanks Guys!! |

What I did here was to firstly Liquify some of your friend's features - widened the nose, fattened out the lips and slightly widened the eyes. Duplicated this layer twice and set the topmost layer to a Darken Blending Mode at Opacity of 30%. Then using Image>Adjustments>Color Balance I set all the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow Values to -100 for Highlights, Midtones and Shadows. Then I created a Layer Mask filled with black to hide all of this and using a Paint Brush set to White and painting directly on the Layer Mask painted back the color for the face (avoiding the whites of the eyes) and the hands. On the next duplicated layer I simply set to Multiply at 30% and copied the layer mask from the Darkened layer to apply to the Multiply layer. |

That is a very good result. Before I read the first post I thought the left was the original and the right had been modified. It certainly fooled me |

It's basically a color match issue. After you've isolated the skin tones, create a curves adjustment layer and drag the center point down to darken them. The color will be oversaturated and it will probably be too contrasty with the highlights too strong. You can reduce the contrast by dragging the top right point on the curve down slightly to reduce the highlights. Reduce the saturation using a hue/saturation adjustment layer. You can do it in curves but it's more difficult. You can tweak the hue in the same adjustment layer if you wish. Now you should be fairly close and you can use standard color matching techniques to adjust the midtone and highlight values to match your target tone using another curves layer. |
