Hello

this is a general Ps question and one that is not related to the book (as far as I'm aware)

Can someone please point me in the right direction, i am trying to get this technique wired.

I have tried some glow filters in CS3, but I think that's only part of the way.

can you help? Many thanks.

Scott

Hi Scott
I have seen this technique before on photo websites and seem to recall there is a plug-in to achieve this effect. However, I cannot for the life of recall what it's called. Hopefully someone can jump in and answer your question, otherwise perhaps a mail to the author will reveal all.

Hi Scott

I think you will find this technique is called SMUDGING. I have had a few attempts at it but failed dismally

Hope you have more luck than me. There are several tutorials on the net, this is just one of them.....

Look into the Fractalius plugin from Redfield.

Hello Scott,

Photoshop Creative Issue 60 has something along these lines. Send me your email and I will email you the instructions.

Re: This effect
That's the one Lonnie - well done.

There was a point when many people were using it.

Re: This effect
Thank you everyone.

Well as mentioned above, I was in Tesco's today and noticed the latest edition of Photoshop Creative with an image of a cat on the front displaying exactly what I wanted to do. The tutorial is quite lengthy but I'm still going to give it a go.

That Fractallus plug-in looks great too, would make the workflow much easier I think. But as I'm mostly a (wannabe) landscape photographer. I'm not sure I would use the technique enough to warrant spending money (which is going towards my Nikon D700) on it.

Great advice, thank you.

I'm a bit confused about Fractalius. On the Redfield site (on the Downloads page) you can download the Fractalius.exe but it doesn't say whether it is a trial version or a basic version.

Likewise, you can order the plugin at a cost of £25.

Can anyone shed any light?

ta.
