Blending help
Ummm ok i took a picture of a mountain lion and a deer and made a mountain deer (duh), but i just can't seem to make it so it looks like the deer fur , is like the lion furn so it actually looks like a real animal 
if you could help me with some blending ideas or what not that would be great. -{African}-  |

It's a good idea African, what methods have you tried already? I would just suggest using the Healing Brush to take samples from the lion's fur which would just replace the texture without affecting the deer's fur too much. I would also change the Hue of the Deer's head to match the colour of the Lion and make it appear to be a single beast. Your blending is pretty good as it stands and it's fairly seamless, however, it's the colour that would prevent people "supending their disbelief" in your creature. Also the horns are a little too sharp (not in a pointy horn sense but in a photographic sense) blurring the edges a little will help it blend into the picture. _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

I cut out the head and placed it over the body. Used the polygonal lasso tool to make a selection and moved the selection back over the head and lowered the opacity. Very crude but could be effective if done with more pains.  _________________ -Never met a PS'er I didn't like- Will Rogers |

African, I think your second version is very nearly there. The lion's body has much more contrast than the deer head, and I think that's the main problem now. Try this: duplicate the deer head, then desaturate it (command/contrul-U). Then change the layer mode to Hard Light. You should find that boosts the contast on the head without affecting the colour. If the effect is too strong, try lowering the opacity on the new Hard Light layer. A touch of Unsharp Mask on the original deer head would help, too. Other than that, it's looking fantastic! MJ, your solution is a good one, but I think there's a problem with flatness: you seem to have lost the three-dimensionality of the head somewhat. That's what comes of tinkering with plastic surgery... |
