Business Card Problems
Hello All!

I am designing a new business card layout for myself in Illustrator CS2. It currently has a metallic background, but I want to change it to woodgrain. I've tried to send it to Photoshop through copy/paste as smart object, and it pasts very pixellated. Furthermore, I cannot adjust the layers at all. I would like to have the logo etched into the woodgrain, and paint some graphic styles onto the logo design. How do I make a successful, fully editable transfer from Illustrator to Photoshop??

Re: Business Card Problems
Since my post, I have been able to edit the shape of the text and logo using the direct selection tool in Illustrator... But I am still unable to edit the graphics and text when I open it in Photoshop. And It is still very pixelated and blurry... from the graphics to the text. I don't understand why Photoshop can't accurately read a file made in Illustrator. Can anyone shed some light?

I think that's one for Steve. Of course, if you have a postage stamp and a marker-pen, I'd be happy to share everything I know about Illustrator

Re: Business Card Problems
Sounds to me like you're working on a low resolution Photoshop file. But even if you do, a Smart Object imported from Illustrator remains editable only in Illustrator. If you want to edit the layers in PS, you'll need to export the file from Illustrator as a Photoshop file, and your layers should remain intact.

But if all you want to do is add a wood background, wouldn't you be better off placing that in Illustrator and continuing to work on the image there?

Re: Business Card Problems
Thanks Steve, I ended up editing it in Illustrator and it came out just fine. I had the layer under the wrong selection and it prevented me from going into any of the filters and blending options.

Sorry about the incredibly late response.
