Can you tell me what you think is happening
Hi chaps A work in progress - ignore chopped up arms and stuff. Can you tell me what you think he's doing? I know what he's supposed to be doing, but my partner doesn't! Cheers Chris |

Well, he seems to be disappearing from the biceps. _________________ Why isn't 'phonetic' spelled the way it sounds? |

It seems like he is getting the person on the other end of the phone to listen to the city noise?? |

Re: Can you tell me what you think is happening
So it doesn't look like he's holding the phone to his head like a gun? |

Chris, For that effect try getting him to hold the mouthpiece as if it was a pistol grip. _________________ Why is there only one word for ‘Thesaurus’? |

Had thought of that but not sure if will work. Maybe the idea's just flawed. |

En français, ça ira?? Je vois un homme qui est tellement harcelé par le téléphone qu'il devient un téléphone et qu'il veut en finir.... _________________ Mais je me connais, je lâcherais pas l'affaire.... Re: Can you tell me what you think is happening
I think having two fingers pointing along the handset, towards his head, could make the gun idea work... |

Chris I think it's important to understand what you are trying to convey with this approach. There may be more than one way of illustrating this. If the man was facing us and his eyes were closed tightly, i.e. in anticipation of the phone firing, then that might make the message clearer. I see people holding mobile phones like this all the time, why I don't know, but they are always the type who talk loudly on trains. Nick |

Like your thinking, Nick. Will try Steve's idea first, because I don't like showing faces on posters unless they're stars. I can put my finger on it, but when you show a face it seems to kill the mystery? Will post the result to see what you think. Thanks again! Chris |

Re: Can you tell me what you think is happening
I'm sorry, but the problem's with the shadow on the arm, from the head/torso. The arm is obviously forward from the 'head' and thus it doesn't look as if the phone is on the same plane as the head. Plus if it was being forced into his temple, the hair would be moved about a bit. |

Re: Can you tell me what you think is happening
That's a good point, Ocker. It's also that the position of the hand makes it look as if he's holding the phone in front of him, resting against the window. To press the phone to his head, I think he'd have to twist the arm so the thumb is pointing up, not down. Try it, you'll see what I mean. |

Re: Can you tell me what you think is happening
I think the phone receiver is placed too far to the left. The guy has short hair and the temple, to which the gun would be held, is fairly flush with the ear. In it's present position, the impression is the the receiver is being held in front of his forehead. |

To me it looked like he was going to lift up the blind with his thumb to look through it. |
