Hi Farook, Well, the easy way to do this is to cut out using any of Photoshop's generic selection tools and then use the smudge tool to create new wisps of hair but that won't give you the results you are asking for. You have a very difficult task cutting out the hair from this image but it can be done if you are familiar with Channel masking. It is a very advanced technique and I don't know your level of knowledge or ability with Photoshop. The technique involves gradually building up the contrast in the image until you have a pure black and white image in a new Alpha Channel. The major difficulty is separating the rocks from the hair to the left of her right eye and just above her left shoulder. Depending on your ability you may not be able to do this. This description is a fairly simplified idea of what you need to do but it should set you off on the correct road. Firstly make a spare copy of the image and work on that. Now add a levels adjustment layer and increase the contrast by moving the black slider to the right and the white slider to the left. Stop when you start to see a loss of detail in the individual hairs. The picture will start to look pretty bad but don't worry about that. I had a look at the channels and the red channel looks the most promising start with. Copy this channel and then go to Image>Apply>Image and select 'Screen' for the blending mode. The background should get darker. Much of the hair will also get darker but that doesn't matter as the hair at the edges will become lighter. Go to Image>Adjustment>Levels and, again move the sliders but stop when you start to lose detail. Now use a hard edged black brush and paint out the background going as close as you can to the hair but don't actually paint over any of the hair. Now use a hard edge white brush and paint inside the girl going as close as you can to the edge of the hair. Don't paint white were rocks or sea or grass should be. This is the most difficult part as you need to separate the small bits of background from the hair itself. You need to use the dodge and burn tools at low values selecting highlights and shadows as necessary to burn in the remaining hair and turn the background to complete black. You must keep going back to the original image and then back to the Alpha Channel to check on your progress until you end up with the girl and her hair as pure white with the background pure black. When you have this black and white alpha channel you can use that to select the girl and you can then throw away the Levels adjustment layer. I really must emphasise again that this is a difficult technique to master but it is the only real way to get all that hair cut out. There is a book available by Katrin Eismann called 'Photoshop Masking and Compositing' which covers this in much more detail than I can here. Best of luck with this one!
