so what are you thinking
thought I post this one before I call it quits and move onto a new image. Larger image can be found here http://www.whosaidphotography.com/WpgPhoto/JackOfCards.jpg |

I like the idea of it, and it certainly has some dynamism to it. But you do need to be careful of your perspective. The Jack of Diamonds has a very strong angle on it - so much so that the bottom J is smaller than the J of the Jack of Spades, behind it. If you think about it, this isn't possible. And the Jacks of Spades and Clubs look rather awkward, because they're so flat on to the camera, with no perspective distortion at all. Nearly there! |

Thanks Steve good point, I do have 1 question for you. When you are finishing an image, what are the last steps that go through your mind? |

Good question, Bob. When I think an image is finished, I check it over carefully to make sure there are no mismatches or layers visible that shouldn't be - shadows that don't line up, imperfect cutouts, sharp edges, and so on. Usually, I'll zoom the image to fit the screen and get rid of all the menus and panels, then go out of the room to make a coffee. When I come back in I'll look at it from the door - you can often get a different sense of an image from a distance. The problem is that when you've been working on something a long time you lose the sense of how it looks to someone fresh to it. One solution is to flip the whole image horizontally, which will give it a very different appearance - and will help you to see composition elements that don't flow together. |
