Cropping to Perspective ?
I'm attempting to crop the below photo so that the plastron (turtle's bottom shell) appears flat. Unfortunately, my attempts have failed. Any techniques or tip would be greatly appreciated. http://www.virginiaherpetologicalsociety.com/reptiles/turtles/yellow-bellied-slider/Yellowbelly%20Slider%20ventral%20view(Trachemys%20scripta%20scripta)034.JPG |

Not quite sure what you're after here, John... can you explain in a bit more detail? |

Do you mean something like this? I used Lens correction to alter the perspective. You could also use the Perspective Crop tool in CS6 beta. It's tricky to do without introducing some distortion, though. _________________ Leap and the net will appear |

Re: Cropping to Perspective ?
Thanks Steve and David. I would like the bottom of the turtle shell to appear flat. David did what I was attempting to do. However, as David mentioned there is some distortion. I may try extracting the turtle shell from the background, making it a 3d postcard layer and then trying to adjust the perspective. Any other suggestions? Thanks again, John |

Re: Cropping to Perspective ?
I find the warp tool is really useful. Select the area you want (all the select constraints apply) and then move the handles, grids, as you want. It works really well, but keep your history! Puppet tool very good, more powerful as well if you have it, but warp great. At the end of the day you might need to make adjustments/overlays to shading etc, but depends on what you want to do(?) Don't forget your layer masks to obscure parts left you don't need any more Trevor |
