Re: The avatar repository.
I GIVE UP! Yet another try. Please help To many workarounds How to use avatars A lot of people have difficulty understanding how to use avatars on the site - for some reason, the forum software doesn't allow you to upload images directly (I will have a word with the developer about this one). In the meantime, here's a workaround: post a message to the Readers Gallery forum, including your avatar. Let's say it's called myavatar.jpg. Then the avatar is present in the system: you can use it by giving the address as http://www.howtocheatinphotoshop.com/cgi-bin/attachments/myavatar.jpg |

Re: The avatar repository.
Kathryn, It's all got rather easier since this repository was created. All you have to do now is: 1. Prepare your photo. It must be square and no more than 20K in size (use Save for Web in Photoshop to reduce the size if you have to). 2. Click on Personal at the top of any Forum page. 3. Click Edit Profile, top left. 4. You can now click the button to upload your new avatar directly to your profile. Incidentally, while your band of Illustrator swatches will indeed serve as an avatar, it will be stretched into a square by the forum software. Also, consider the purpose of avatars: they're to give other Forum members an idea of what each other looks like. We exchange views, we compare work, and it's good to know who we're dealing with.
