This is what I think an avatar looks like.

Post your avatars here. You can go back and reference them if necessary.

To use an avatar posted here in the forum:

1. Upload the image.

2. Click the Edit link to the left of the message you just posted.

3. Select and copy the text starting with /cgi-bin up to the suffix of the image - eg. /cgi-bin/attachments/image.jpg. Don't include the code in square brackets.

4. Go to your profile by clicking the Personal link at the top of the page.

5. Click Edit Profile in the box on the left-hand side.

6. Paste the text you copied into the URL box just beneath the avatar frame.

7. Click Save changes at the bottom of the window.

To use an externally hosted image

A lot of hosts such as Flickr, Imageshack, etc. give you the HTML code to copy and paste. For avatars, you'll need to copy the text beginning with HTTP and ending with the image suffix. eg. http...image.jpg

Once you've done that, follow step 4 onwards.

Thanks David ! It took me so long to get that bow balanced

Here is another inspired by the design used in barack Obama's campaign - a friend showed me how to do it and if anyone wants to do the same I am posting the details on the tutorial section
