Day to Night with christmas lights
I originally created this image as a day to night project. I was playing with ideas for quick christmas lights, probably needs a bit more work but I thought I'd share.

The lights were created by increasing the brush spacing and stroking a single path, so technically, they could be strung on a curve or pretty much any shape.

Good. There's a really strong sense of a reflection of the lights in the walls, and I know how hard that is to achieve. Great colouring, a very convincing night scene. Perhaos the sky should have a slight gradient? Paler at the bottom?

Very nice David, I might have been tempted to individually place each light as even spacing can look a little unrealistic, however, it seems to work in this instance.

This is one I did for the Channel 4 Xmas Logo challenge on b3ta

Steve, I was quite surprised by the effect, I used a large, low opacity brush - the glare on the red string was a fortunate accident, I forgot to switch from the spaced brush. I agree about the sky, I'll mess around with that later, I used the image as it was to hand at the time.

Maiden, I know what you mean, I might try adding a little jitter, my plan was to make the effect as quick as possible, so placing the lights manually sort of defeats the object

Yes I agree, David, after all this is "How to Cheat" But adding jitter might be a better idea as you said and perhaps a tiny bit of scatter.
