Praise! Reeaaa-ly nice one M(e)guyer! I like the out of focus effect and the vivid contrast of the "coquelicot" (don't know the name of the red one in english, sorry).

Is it a montage? It really looks like a picture taken with a camera...

Re: Spring has arrived
thanks. Background is a flowering pear tree and the tulip was added. I duplicated the background, gaussian blurred it, added a mask and painted on the mask with black to sharpen up the background right around the flower.

this must be when the "cheaters" in the western hemisphere arrive.

I like the contrast as well, and the way you enhance depth of field. Love the vivid color of the tulip... did you enhance that at all, or is that straight beauty?

The strange thing about living in SoCal, it's colorful year round.

Re: Spring has arrived
I like the overall effect but the tuplip looks "blown out". The petals at the back are pure red, there is no detail in them at all. Did you have to cover up something on the tulip?

Re: Spring has arrived
actually the tulip is "straight out of the camera"...lack of detail in the back petals could be a depth of field thing.

springtime gets me outside with my camera...and the subjects do not talk back or get uncooperative

Wow! Can you share with us you camera make and lens type (if applicable)? I love macro photography and this is really nice.

I lke the background color you selelcted, it really does the job here. Nicely shaded too.

That is really lovely Marty. That, too, is worthy of a large print on a wall.

Nikon Coolpix 5700 set for macro. I knocked out the busy background, filled a new layer with a color (colour) sampled from the flower for the background and added a drop shadow. Thanks for the feedback guys (mates).
