My Niece
Hi everyone! This is a photograph I took of my niece at her school field day. I played around in Photoshop and plan to frame the pic for her and her grandmother. Any comments or criticisms would be appreciated. Chris ![]() |

I like the softer look of #2. I don't care for what you did with the left side of the picture (her right) |

I hope you don't mind my messing with your picture. I lightened the picture with a curves adjustment, blurred only the skin and as a dentist felt I could not leave it before I lightened the teeth. Since you are in Atlanta, be sure to go to the Acquarium and take your camera. Have a good one, Marty ![]() |

Re: My Niece
Thanks for the comments, Mguyer. Yeah, I wasn't too sure about the strong highlights either. You should know that the girl in this pic and her brother have so many photographs of them from family members that you'd think they were kid celebs! So my focus on this pic was to not so much as to have it photo realistic, but to incorporate a bit of artistic license. They love it when I take a pic of them and completely change the background so that they are not in their home or yard, but standing on top of a mountain or walking on water! ![]() It is not only great practice for me, but I also think of it as a tool to exercise their imagination and artistic abilities. Sometimes I'll take a pic, show it to them, and have them draw with pencils and crayons the setting they would like to be in, then I'll put them in the drawing or create a similar setting using reference photos from the internet. |

Nice picture Tank, I thought I would see what the picture would come like using the tut I made: http://www.howtocheatinphotoshop.com/cgi-bin/simpleforum_pro.cgi?fid=10&topic_id=1142625039 I also used the dodge brush on the bottom layer to make it a more softer image. and left the hair, as it looked better that way. Tank... the second pic kind of looked like you used the plastic wrap filter... ![]() reading your comments on knocking out the background and playing with the pic... could you use the flower on the towel and lift it off... turning it into something polynesian? and then wrap those around counter-clockwise, in effect framing her face??? Other than that... mguyer had a good idea using subtle highlights... _________________ Drawing attention to what otherwise might be overlooked... emphasizing things that matter. |
