website layout comments please...
hi all! here is a general pic of my website layout. the logo and buttons will stay the same from page to page and the lower black area is where the page will appear. the site will be in flash. i want it to be semi-professional in nature but at the same time it is my site, so it will reflect my artistic neurosis as well. all comments, suggestions and critiques are welcomed and encouraged. and yes, you can say it sucks if you wish. ![]() the only areas that i am unsure of are the color/tinting of the buttons and the word "design". if you have suggestions please be specific with tints as i have tried almost everything. thanks! ![]() |

Hi Dark Edge, The "Dark Edge" graphics look really nice. The glint is a nice touch, and gives it a nice polished metal look. The font of the word design reduces the readablility some, but not terribly so. Maybe consider using the same look as the rest of the title. The font and lack of contrast in the of the buttons makes them hard to read. Since this is important to navigation, I would consider revising. I know this is only my opinion, but as an instructional/graphic designer, this is the kind of things that we watch out for in our training presentations. I would also be careful of changing fonts too often on one page. ![]() |

Hi there! I really like the design on the header. I agree with dave.cox's comments, though. The font on "design" needs some retouching. I see that you want 'design' to be different from 'dark edge,' but the way it is now, it doesn't balance well on the title. 'Design' is a bit smaller than the other type. Also, what if the glow on the circle sort of had an animated fade which goes in & out when the page loads for the first time? Very nice layout! Can't wait to see the final page! Chris |

I agree with the comments on the "design". I would add that you would say "Dark Edge Design" in one breath, so why not use the same font? If you get real popular, you could use the DED acronym... I would also suggest to soften the drop shadows of the "Dark Edge" a bit so not to compete with the main font. A rule of thumb I use ( similar to Dave.cox's comment) is to use no more then 3 families of fonts on the same page. Looks promising!! ![]() _________________ |
