Hot Chips
This is the design which I created and cut my banner from. Please do not all groan at once.

Oh Groan - only joking Vern, it's great.

Must have been a job to bend that lettering to fit the plate. Did you run text on a circular path?

Re: Hot Chips
Hi Nick, thanks for kind comments.

I typed text, turned it into smart object, warped it onto an arc, rotated it, scaled it down vertically (which approximated the required perspective) and then tweaked it with the warp handles before adding an emboss layer style.

I did experiment with adding some steam to the chips but it didn't look better so I ditched that idea.

It's OK to groan .. I would.
Cheers

Re: Hot Chips
Very nicely achieved - and I'm surprised no-one has thought of this gag before.

A quick point re embossing: if you apply the bevel and emboss before turning the text into a Smart Object, then the emboss will be distorted in perspective along with the lettering.

It also looks a little here as if you've compressed the text vertically, but not applied much perspective distortion to it: the T of To at the back takes up much more of the height of the rim than the T of To at the front does.

These are minor points, though! It does make a terrific banner.

Re: Hot Chips
Gordon, cheers for the groan.

Thanks Steve, I will emboss before distorting in future (it's those little details which catch me out).

With regard to the perspective, I see what I have done wrong. I carefully worked out the left hand side text adding some persepctive distotion to ensure the text further away was slightly smaller. Then like a dummy I just duplicated and rotated that text 180 degrees for the right hand side so the smaller text came to the front and the larger to the back thereby reversing perspective reality.

I am surprised nobody had done this gag before as since I first saw the forum/book being referred to as HotChiPs it immediately struck me as funny ... probably just my twisted sense of humour.

Cheers
Vern
