Re: waiting girl
A definite feel of Edward Hopper to this. A couple of points: 1. The tables and chairs look tiny, next to that window. I'd make them at least twice the size. 2. If the lights are fixed to the ceiling, as they appear to be, why are they casting their beams in front of the bar, since this is a long way in front of them? 3. The light beams are too hard-edged, and too long. Soften them, and fade them out more quickly. 4. Since the interior of the room is lit up, and it's dark outside, we'd see very much more reflection of the room in the windows. 5. Why does the girl have such a soft edge? She seems to be evaporating! |

Re: waiting girl
The tables look much better and the perspective appears good to me. In the original, the bar and the floor looked to be an extension of one another and the separation is vastly improved in the second version. In terms of points to note, the overall lighting of the room looks rather flat, whereas there is a distinct directional light on the girl. The placement of the ceiling lights could be changed, as in practice they are likely to be further apart, or in line with the walls. I think there would be more than two in a room of this size, but this is open for opinion. In any event the effect they would produce is so important and I believe the rays are too sharp. Also, they need to cast light on the ceiling and on the floor / bar and areas nearer to the light will be lighter. This will add more atmosphere to the image. Also remember that more than one light will produce more than one shadow from elements such as the bottle. I have not reworked this image in detail, but merely added a solid colour adjustment layer set to multiply and brought back some of the original light with the mask. Hope this helps. Nick ![]() |

Ahmed - interesting story-telling - makes one wonder......... I'm thinking that the top of the beer bottle is too transparent - it almost disappears - ??? - or is it just me........ _________________ "Art is a blade of grass ... and in a moment I will eat it." |
