Music casssette
100% Photoshop, from a painting, photographed in 'De Kunsthal' in Rotterdam.

Re: Music casssette
Excellent work. I don't understand the reflections of the lamp and window and would be inclined to lose them, as they just add confusion to the intricacy of the work you've produced so well.

I love the little screws. Tiny as can be, but perfect.

Re: Music casssette
The lamp is ment to be a feeble joke. It's Steve's lamp from page 46 of his book '100% Photoshop'. The original painting had a reflection of a window too. It took a lot of work to compose the houses in the street. Only to result in this weak reflection... Thank you both for your remarks!

Re: Music casssette
This is great, nice sense of detail? I agree with above posts about the reflections.lamp, they are confusing, the tape was perfect before adding them. Sometimes we can spend hours drawing something which we want to add to a scene, but in the end it's sometimes best to let go and say 'that didn't work', although you could always combine them into another piece of work!

That's an nice thought, thanks. Learning takes time anyway.
Here's the item you maybe would have been expected.
Also the lightfall of the 'B' is corrected.

Re: Music casssette
Much better without the lamp, I agree. The idea of the reflections is to suggest shine, not to show the reflected view in detail.

This is a very fine piece of work. I wonder, though: shouldn't the thin tape ripple with refraction as it goes behind the textured part of the plastic?

I think you did a excellent job on this. I would add a slight Bevel & Emboss on the small circles and square at the bottom.

You can also add some scratches on the clear case to make it look like it has been used a lot.

I'm going to try this. This seems like an interesting project since I like to create objects.

Re: Music casssette
Thank you all for your nice replies folks!
• Should the tape ripple... maybe it should have Steve, if I had thought about that tiny, tiny detail.

I did add a little Bevel & Emboss on the circles (to see on the original), Luis. Maybe could've give it some more. Scratches, yeah. Like seen on page 81/13 - 100% Photoshop. Hope to see your version which would be a lot better I expect, endorsing your other works, like for instance your 100% Futuretech project. I tried it for days now, but I give up. I can't get this magical gauge-glass the way you did:
http://www.howtocheatinphotoshop.com/cgi-bin/simpleforum_pro.cgi?fid=14&topic_id=1338292438 ("...only used Layer styles..."). Maybe there's an easier way to this (in my opinion) rather unique phenomenon.

To remind you, Artwel, here is your beautyfull retro tape player to be found:

The link to the tutorial has gone with the time...

But let's not forget Luis' Tascam Portastudio!

Very impressive work by Luis, haven't seen that one before!

I found another link for the tape player, this one should be working now. http://www.tutoriallounge.com/2010/04/how-to-draw-a-very-detailed-radiotape-from-the-80s/
