Playing In CS 6 3D
Steve,
Playing with placing objects in 3D. Only objects not 3D are Daffy,Bugs; wall and floor which I made. Desk and chair made with stroked path which was then extruded (from a tut I saw somewhere). Candlestick from a free 3d object site although looking at it now should be easy to create with path tool, extruding and merging parts. All 3D objects were merged and then placed and sized using front and top views and co-ordinates. Don't know how many others are trying 3D --- any possibility of a 3D forum?

I am very impressed - I can hardly get my head around 2D most of the time

Fantastic work, Frank! So glad you've found the 3D tools - I continue to be hugely impressed with them. Try playing with transparent objects, too, to see how well refraction and reflection work.

I fear a 3D forum would be just you and me at the moment!

Very nice Frank.

Although I play with 3D I use a dedicated programme (Cinema 4D). I don't have an 'Extended' version of Photoshop so wouldn't be able to make up a threesome on a forum.

A cleverly and inspiring piece of work Frank
I still have a lot to learn. That chair seems like a jolly good sitting object in real life. Looking forward to your next 3D post.

Nicely done. I've got CS6 on subscription, so I don't get the 3D bit ...

Re: Playing In CS 6 3D
Thanks for the comments everyone. Agree Steve, would be a small forum by the looks of it. I took your advice Steve and tried your suggestion which led me to your tuts on PSD Tuts. Very well done - learned a lot especially doing the label bit and doing the label as a smart object. I added wine into the bottle basically the same way (as another layer). I also thru in an IBL whch I edited - did you ever do the IBL tut? Here's my go at the first two tuts.

3-D.....WOW! I'm a bit confused by a few things here, though, Frank......is the woman naked below the sweater, and is the placement and the shape of the wine glass intentionally suggestive - or is my imagination working overtime???

Yes --- yes, but meant to cover up in a subtle way. Remember to look at the wine -- everything here is 3d including the background (postcard). Background darkened to set the mood and play into soft front-side lighting.

Re: Playing In CS 6 3D
That's a great job you've done there Frank!!!
The highlights on the bottle and the filled glass.
I find the 3D-options in Photoshop not very intuitive to say the least. It's a very time taking and difficult learn curve and I suppose with every next version of PS the 3D-options and -dialogs will be less complicated... maybe until the Knoll-brothers change the name in Adobe 3Dshop
Thanks for the URL's Frank!

Re: Playing In CS 6 3D
Thanks Sjef -- yes it does get a little steep at times and I certainly get in trouble -- I think we'll see more advanced user friendly options as this version progresses -- I'd like to see "Snap object to object below" for one and a better 3d merge .

Re: Playing In CS 6 3D
All built in 3d using many techniques from your tuts Steve. Small spacecraft built in 3 sections and stripes etc added using the wine label technique. Employed 4 lights and an IBL.

Re: Playing In CS 6 3D
Thanks Joey and Steve --- it started out by making a few shapes to see how they would extrude in 3D and took off from their. As you say Steve placing the stripes, flag ,etc is a trial and error method . I found in 3D just play with it ,save alot ,and you will learn. Another thing I'd like to see Steve is when you merge say the 3 sections of the rocket in this case there was a way to lock the 3 together -- as it is now if I rotate the rocket I have to select all 3 sections and rotate them together .

Frank,
Great work and many thanks for posting the links for Steve's tutorials.

Steve, really great tutorials on the wine glass and bottle etc - is there anywhere where there is a link to all of your online tutorials? I seem to keep stumbling on them, but don't know how many there are?

Re: Playing In CS 6 3D
Frank you have done some pretty impressive stuff. Ive had a go at 3D but I find its a lot of hit and miss for me. I can manage text sort of ok but objects fall by the wayside. Well done

Re: Playing In CS 6 3D
Thanks Anna and Deborah --- it's been a steep learning curve especially with computer crashes thrown in. Seems I'm getting used to working on recovered, recovered, recovered files.
