Re: Family portrait
Horrible, but a clever piece of work! Of course there's no father...

Hey Trevor, Sjef..........maybe this will answer a few of those questions.....

An explanation for this image: A friends 14 year old granddaughter is becoming increasingly obsessed with being "too fat" (she's about 5'3" and maybe 105 pounds). So we went in search of signs of bulimia/anoerxia........information and images. Well, I'm still overwhelmed by those images, mostly young adults, but children, also.
Many leaders (but not all) in the fashion industry use/exploit skin-and-bone models to promote their line. The impact on young women/girls is staggering.
And, there is a "movement".......Pro-Ana, it's called. There are websites, blogs, bracelets (red), t-shirts, colors, etc to show support of the lifestyle so they can identify each other, "help" each other.
Well anyway.......that's the inspiration for this image. Sorry if it's offended anyone.

Re: Family portrait
In my believe it's the impact of advertising, a kind of brainwashing for any of us, but especially for those young girls who are to be goodlooking for the boys in this men's world. Perhaps Photoshop is one of the divisions that make these kind of 'ideal picture' advertisements possible.
Your picture reminded me of my niece. She is 'cured' now, but this behaviour nests sturdy in her brain and keeps her fighting against it for more years to come.

Re: Family portrait
Thank you for the clarification and the reason Joey. I understand. When you starve yourself the muscle is first to go and then metabolism and energy to brain.

I wish they would stop these images that make women think they need to be like sticks. I won't comment from a gender perspective. We all think the same in this direction.

My older daughter does a lot of exercise, my sister too and my younger daughter works and brings up a family with support from husband and family. They all look perfect to me, as in don't see any problems.

Keep up the good work. Guess I can't help much unless I go to Pro-Ana?

Re: Family portrait
Trevor - I don't think visiting Pro-Ana would "help"....... I believe it's their own little support system.....approval for their chosen "Lifestyle" (as they put it). Tho, I'm sure there must be an Anti-Ana movement........???
