Re: Graphic Tablets
I like the idea!

Two things stand out to me, the first is the label, there needs to be more of a curve on it to match the jar and the second is the tablets don't really look like they're inside, more like another label.
Putting things inside other things is difficult

A trick I use with shear, is to make sure the layer to be distorted is dead centre, that way, you get true symmetry, after that, you can distort it to fit. I'm not sure, but it seems like you've curved the tablets, which in reality, wouldn't be the case. Also, adding some dodge to the front of the jar would give a little more depth.

Sorry for all the negatives, I'm sure with a bit of tweaking, it'll look great!

Re: Graphic Tablets
I agree with Trinity. But for me, the main problem is the perspective of the top of the jar - it needs to be a lot flatter. Easily done - just make a marquee selection of the top and flatten it.

The Shear filter can work better if you use two points either side of the centre, rather than one dead in the middle. Helps to avoid that point bit in the middle there.

Putting things inside bottles, glasses and jars is tricky. Wait till Friday morning and you'll see just how tricky it can be...

Re: Graphic Tablets
Thanks for the feedback.

I did have problems with the Shear filter as it doesn't show anything in the background other than the layer your working on in its preview window. I don't know why this filter doesn't have a 'live' preview in the image itself or at least allow you the option to view background layers like the Liquify filter does. Then again the Shear filter could be improved by allowing horizonal shearing or allowing the user to set the shear angle before applying the shear.

Anyway it was quite tricky.

Trinity, I didn't apply any shear to the tablets in the bottle only a Free Transform to some of the tablets - of course PS not being a true 3D engine it can't really allow me the ability to manipulate the tablets in a true 3D space. Perhaps next time I need to render them in proper 3D before importing several angles in tiff format to PS but I in this instance I was more than a tad lazy.

Steve, I totally agree about the lid of the bottle. The angle was really quite off-putting. It would seem in stock images the trend is to get these bizarre angles shot from above and it makes correction very tricky if not impossible in the case of people and animals.

Sorry it's took me a long time to reply but I've been away on holiday in Cornwall getting, I hope, some nice photographs on my FujiFilm S5000 Digital Camera (not quite a Pro camera but capable enough)

Re: Graphic Tablets
Yes, the Shear filter is a real pain. I've been nagging anyone who will listen at Adobe to update it for years and years - but it seems no-one there seems to realise what it's really used for. With any luck, the next version of PS will have some of those features - perhaps even envelope distortion - we've been asking for. Who knows. Beta testing hasn't started yet.

Remember PS's 3D Transform dialog! just right for moving those tablets around, I'd have thought.

The lid's easy to fix - just make a rectangular selection around it and squeeze it downwards. You can alt-nudge the top half upwards again, if you like, to make it taller. (Does that make sense?)

Hope Cornwall wasn't too wet.

Re: Graphic Tablets
Cornwall was quite nice actually, not the usual flaming July but warm enough. It was a bit overcast and foggy yesterday which will mean some image manipulation to my Lands End pics - but overall a nice week.
