Ticking time
Hi

Could you guys and ladies please check this image out and let me know what you think of it, any suggestions on how you think it could be improved would be appreaciated. I created this for a competition in a digital phototography mag. The subject was time.

Thanks

Ryan

Casting my amateurish eye on the overall design, I would say it should be mirrored, have the film/fuse on the left and the camera on the right and maybe have the foremost part of the the film further toward the top left hand corner, thus drawing the viewer around the picture. As it is, you see the effect before the cause, which draws some of the impact away from the image.

This is, of course only my opinion. As far as the components go, I love it!

I agree with Trinity - people read pictures left to right, the same way they read books, so you have to see the fuse first. Unless you're contributing this to an Israeli DP mag, of course.

Only thing I'd change is the lens block, it looks too much of a piece. Breaking this into separate rings, giving each some 3D depth, would add greatly to the sense of destruction - especially if you brought some of the explosion in front of one or two of the rings.

Thanks for the feedback guys, you are right about flipping the image, it looks loads better starting from the left.

The lense looks much more destroyed now Steve I also changed the background to a much darker one to brighten the explosions. Steve i`m thinking of adding a box of matches with one burnt match placed beside the box, I just can`t get this damn scanner to work lol.

Cheers

Ryan
