Crit needed...
This is a piece of work I have been asked to construct out of, what seemed like 300 different photos... It is a trial design for an Xmas card. Any suggestions greatfully recieved!

A couple of immediate observations. First, I'd say you need to Sphereize the building more to make it look like a reflection - and that angle of shot should work fine. Before you do that, however, you need to address those yellow curtains... if that's Christmassy warm glow, it should be less acid. A dollop of red in there would warm things up nicely!

The snow works really well, but I'm not sure you need a white sky for it to be falling out of. A crisp blue sky would give the scene a far more appealing feel, I think.

The only other comment - and, really, it's a good looking image - is the placement of the ball. Where it is at present, it's neither to one side nor in the middle; seems to sit a little uncomfortably just off centre. I'd push it one way or the other to balance the photo better.

Great tinsel and decorations. Your own photo? Or a stock shot?

Many Thanks Steve for your comments.
I tried Sphereizing the image when I first started constructing and it seemed either to make no difference or made the building un-recognisable. I am afraid that my patience overdid me after spending a good couple of hours getting very very frustrated!!
I have just tried your suggestion of the red, and I am not sure whether I have understood completly... it gave it a lovely warm glow, and gave the impression that the building was on fire!

I was trying to get the effect of a snow-globe rather than a reflective shot, and I wasn't sure whether sky was needed?
As for the placement of the Bauble... that was a nightmare! It either looked way too traditional, either to one side or dead centre, or it took over the whole image. How do you get over this kind of hurdle??
The photo(s) were taken last year at my parents house, it was one of those pics that will always be handy as some point in the future, hey what can I say... I'm a Hoarder!!

Tabitha,

If you're going for the snow-globe effect, you'd need to use a reversed spherize or shear. Then a little 'fish/beans' behind glass technique to put it inside the bauble.

I think what Steve means by a 'dollop' of red on the curtains is more the hue/sat than actually painting in red.

I won't say too much about the composition as I'm far from an authority but I think there should be a little bit of an offset on the vertical axis (rule of thirds), maybe by cropping a little from the bottom, I think that would help with the horizontal positioning.
