Re: Something new for me~!
Hi African, I hope you do not consider this to be criticism, as an absolute amateur on this site I am not sure it gives me the right to comment on others images! I do not know the complexities of how to achieve a perfect image in photoshop, and am hopeless at the logical steps it takes to create tutorials etc. I usually create from my gut instinct, not from my brain ![]() But I can offer you what my eye can see - Your image is good, I like the composition you have used and the blue hues are interesting , but what I would say is that there is nothing connecting the objects together, maybe if you added some shadow to the wrist as it is emerging out of the jug or on the hand where it is grasping the snake, it would somehow bring the 3 images together?? I like the way you have mirrored the handle and added the snake on, but there is a focus difference between the two, and the contrast is slightly different for the hand and jug. I have tried saving your image but as its Low Res and a flat image it is hard to show what I mean. If you have the original images I would be more than willing to give it a go... (I am not the best at explaining myself in words ![]() |

Re: Something new for me~!
Explained well Tabitha, African I agree with T, coupla other things to consider tho'. The snakes head doesnt quite match the width of the handle and you have conflicting light sources on the hand and jug. Maybe a bit of shading would rectify, I'd certainly lighten the left hand side (as we look at it) of the hand to soften the big black line thats there and maybe source a hand image that matches the perspective of the handle a bit more so it doesnt look like the hand is twisting the handle back or maybe just flip the hand horizontally and see how that looks - I for one would pick up a snake with my thumb and forefinger behind its neck (not that I have much need to these days !) Only a few tweaks here and there, you've got the basics there and a nice idea too ![]() _________________ minds are like parachutes - they only work when they are open |

Thanks, and no i don't care if you correct my image this is the reason i put it on here...just one thing i need to elarn, you see hwere the hand and the head of the snake meet, how do i make it so it blends just right i just can't get that..and glen now that i look at the hand i can see he is sort of holding the iron thingy in an awkward way thanks for the coments -{African}- |

Aaah, don'tcha just love the B2B contests ![]() That's a great idea. I agree with the comments Tabs and Glen have made, the lighting is definitely the let down here. I would be tempted to add a reflection of the snake head at the top of the jug for a little bit more interaction. Keep it up, practice, as they say, makes perfect. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Here's my attempt, I made it a little too high for a reflection though. ![]() _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Re: Something new for me~!
African, looks better already. Notice between your last image and the image from David how the two images differ with the hand 'flipped'. One seems to be pulling the snake forward from the handle and the other constraining the snake to its position (yours). In your 2nd image the eye is led around the page much easier - nice one, touch more work on the hand shading/shadow/join to the snake and you're almost there _________________ minds are like parachutes - they only work when they are open |

Let us know how it does in the contest, I just had a look at some of the other entries, some pretty dull colour change images, so you should do quite well. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

That's not a bad placing. My first image came 76th out of 90, if I remember correctly. I did jump in at the deep end and went straight for an advanced contest though. Nice work. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |
