Past challenges not submitted on time
My pc is breathing again. Yahoo. I worked so hard for challenge 931, I couldn't let it go unseen.

Thank you Steve. Did you find the Scottish thistle?

Thank you David and Frank.

I placed a thistle getting crushed, under the front left hoof of the horse. I wanted to put an English rose getting dumped on, behind the horse; as England would...and did take flack for the butcher and others conduct during their wars...but I wasn't sure whether a rose would survive in the Scottish Highlands.

The dog trying desperately to preserve the Huesos de Santo.

This raised some scary and sad thoughts doing this image. We experience trials and tribulations every day and have to adjust accordingly. What is right and what is wrong...and who defines right and wrong. What, as an individual, do you do, if you are expected to maintain a certain poseur and cannot maintain it; especially should that poseur affect others. Are you strong enough to back pedal and reframe from allowing your weakness to affect others and do you step down or do you continue, hoping no-one will expose you?

The mind is willing, but the flesh is weak. It is written that a lost pastor can lead their whole congregation to doom.

Very trying if you ask me. That's why I totally respect a genuine Christian. That's discipline like none other.

Anyway, I eventually finished my image for last week's challenge; not that Eskom allowed me enough time to render the 1 half complete. The left half is a bit grainy. I did put a lot of effort into it so I hope you don't mind me posting it regardless that it is very late.

Challenge 933 - No no is similar to No one
A Steam drill with No no that is similar to No one!

I decided to complete the steam drill I started for challenge 933. I wanted to try it in Unreal. Although I managed to get it in, understanding the program is huge learning curb. One that both myself and my aging computer is struggling with. Maybe I should rephrase that. It's not my pc that's old.

I thought only those that participated in the challenge, would understand the title; "A Steam drill with No no that is similar to No one."

A steam drill with no number that is similar to Number 1

Beautifully modelled. But is it just me, or does it look more like plastic than steel?

Re: Past challenges not submitted on time
Thank you Steve. It may look plastic because I angled the light to enhance the grease/oil on the adjustment teeth and gears. That image was rendered in the program I used to texture it in.

I have since exported into Daz and rendered it with iRay, using PBR materials. There is a lot going on with the surface. Some scratches, rust, dirt and dust in the seams etc. The surface is not raw steel but painted worn steel. Maybe this render looks better.

Re: Past challenges not submitted on time
Ages past the deadline of challenge 966, I limp home with an unfinished model but the artist in me cannot resist in playing with it, now that it resembles a "canopy-less" standard (lol) version of the hand wagon.

The background is a screen shot of Battlefield 1's beautiful environment...and studying the amazing 3D work the DICE team did in this game, I wonder if I'm entitled to feel smug about my simple, unfinished wagon.
