Ben I am delighted you have posted this large here. I really hadn't fully appreciated it in its smaller incarnation in the "Automata" challenge.

I love the way you have used the two dimensional middle road between painting and photography. It would be a very hard act to pull off in true three dimensional pure photography.

This so clever! The suggestion of the woman, who isn't actually there, by the use of negative space defined by the surrounding objects (the cat is particularly clever) is lovely. The cocktail and stockings implying front and back view of the woman is just marvellous.

But what I love most is the sheer tongue in cheek wit!

Thank you David, I think my memory of it originating with Escher is wrong. I no longer have the sketch, died with an earlier computer - I created this from memory
