Merry Christmas (again)
After finishing the earlier Christmas video this popped into my head and I just had to do it.

Brought back a childhood memory. Scraper board. Any of you remember drawing with that?

Very good Gordon. Brings back memories of Germany where I worked for some years.

Thanks all for your comments; greatly appreciated.

Michael, I do know what you mean about German memories. Part of my inspiration for this came from memories of animations I watched that were done, particularly, in Czechoslovakia but also other East European countries when I was a kid in the 50s. There was (and still is) a great tradition of puppeteering there. My memories centre around the use of cut out paper silhouettes of characters which were animated by stop-motion. Don’t remember who made the films but Jan Švankmajer is a possibility.

One of the delights for me when I visited Prague a few years ago, was to visit some of the puppet theatres. One that sticks particularly in my mind was a production of Alice In Wonderland at 'The Black Light Theatre' which was absolutely spellbinding. The stage was black and the puppeteers were all dressed completely in black. The life-size puppets were all brightly coloured and they were all that you saw. one of the best stage shows I have ever seen. Sadly, not all of the theatres were as good. If you're in prague then this is a great place to go but beware of the cheaper 'touristy' venues; some are not that great.
