The little "post-it"notations on each image provided -- they seem to be of little or no help and are kind of a nuisance having to always get them out of my way. Otherwise, enjoy each lesson. Thanks |

I couldnt agree more - though I think Adobe is at fault as the Notes tool is frustrating to use anyway. Also, Steve, in the 3rd edition would it be possible, when repeating stuff from previous editions to use different example images?? Scott Kelby does this in his excellent Photoshop CS for Digital Photographers book - much of the content is straight from the original book, based on PS 7, but he applies the techniques on different photos. In this way, you feel less daft for paying for the same book again ! Also, you can work through the new book, refreshing lessons already learned - but without the complete sense of deja vu ! Finally, in a response to another poster you allude to next year's Photoshop upgrade, citing it as a main reason for a 3rd edition. Steve, I know you are a beta tester... are you already privvy to some tantalising next-edition info? Hmm, sworn to secrecy I presume !! Any chance of some coded 'hints' in your future posts ?! Personally I'd love Filter adjustment layers and also a Shadow- Highlight adjustment layer - though I cant imagine any reason that this wasnt included in CS, other than Adobe figured "we gotta keep something back for the next release" !! Re: recommendation
Jackie/Paul, Some very good suggestions there. I agree about the post-it notes, they really don't serve any useful purpose. I'll get rid of them. My publishers also want me to change example images. The trouble is, it takes so long to do! There will be an extra 64 pages going in the new edition, plus I'm going to have to redo all the movies on the CD - so I promise I'll address as many of the example images as I can. I'm really, really, really not allowed to say a word about whether or not a well-known software company might be considering at some point in the future producing a revised version of their popular image editing program. Sorry. |
