Crikey! That shouldn't be there! It's even got an old-fashioned Wacom pen in there! It's not nearly finished! …but seeing as it has made it out of the closet, what do you think? I prefer it to the last one! Steve |

I like it, simple yet effective. Perhaps a newer Wacom Pen though ![]() _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

Its a striking image, Steve , but a surprising (to me) departure from the multi-layered, massively detailed covers of its 2 predecessors. I personally prefered the style of these old covers, as they showcased both your mastery of photomontage and advertised many of the techniques featured in the book. |

Re: A small insight, perhaps?
Paul, I agree - it is a significant departure. But I think the cover has to work harder to sell the book, and I'm not sure the current one is doing that. It just disappears on the shelves, and even on Amazon it looks dull and rather off-putting. |

How about a holographic cover - like the little cards that used to come with cereal; one view shows the completed cover, the other, a kind of raw work in progress? I'll get my coat... _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

I like the cover on the current version. To my eye at least, it jumped off the bookshelf and intrigued me enough to pick it up. And of course once I started paging through it I knew I had to have it. |

Can I be totally honest here, and not get shot down/booted off the Forum/have a plague of locusts infest my garden?? Ok here goes.... I think this cover is.... boring! Sorry Steve I am sure you know what you are doing, and I am sure enough marketing strategy has gone into it but it just seems a little staid considering what the book entails. As Julie said, the cover of the 2nd Edition WAS intriguing and to me it really stood out because it was not something you saw on a PS tutorial textbook, where as this image of a Wacom pen is! ![]() _________________ "A positive attitude will not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." Re: A small insight, perhaps?
I agree that the previous covers (I have to admit, I preferred edition 1's cover) were interesting but only if you got close and delved in. As Steve said, it lacks the 'pazazz' factor. Bright colours attract people (and insects, but they can't use Photoshop), yes, it may look like just-another-photoshop-book from afar but that's part of the battle, it's got to be noticed on the shelves of Waterstones amongst all the others. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Re: A small insight, perhaps?
The cover isn't finished yet! That was just an early rough I submitted to the publishers. It should never have reached Amazon. The sales reps all hated the last two covers! But perhaps I can still redeem this one. I have a couple more tricks up my sleeve… |
