Mine just arrived yesterday :)
Pity I've only tried beta CS6 version so far, but more important, what I've read/scanned so far. I do like the construction of Steve's latest book with many revisions and includes many chapters that can work with earlier PS versions or non-extended. Further, in his book he includes his earlier work to support earlier versions included with references e.g. to CS5, CS4, CS2 and older versions on his DVD. Very generous Steve. Bit funny to see some references to some of our FCs images from here ![]() ![]() ![]() |

No censorship intended, Trevor! I included the Friday Challenge images that illustrated a technique I was able to explain on a cut-down spread, since so much space is taken up by the FC. Glad you like the new edition, though. |

Perfect Steve. Not a critique, just my sense of humour. I'd do exactly the same with the limited space for FC and clear aim to help the reader in a focused way. To include some of our more obtuse FC's responses could be really confusing for the reader. I'm sure it should fly off the shelves, very good value, accurate, clear and concise. I could say it does everything it says on the cover/introduction, which it does, but more, goes much deeper - wider as well. Thanks. Side comment: I like the feel of the book with aid of Focal Press. The side comment has me baffled - what do you mean by "with the aid of Focal Press", just out of interest? |

Re: Mine just arrived yesterday :)
Maybe "help" is a bit wrong. I'm being positive, my personality and give them some embarrassment. The positive: you got a hard copy published. As I understand they give you so much hassle. They just wanted to give electronic versions, pain in the ass for other versions which do not work for your format and then you get hassled with ebook readers questions...... So my comment is meant to embarrass and show value needed for hard copy and keep away from ebook versions unless they can get their act together. Your DVDs work fine. As I understand they wanted to stop those and just give online version. As others complained, not possible, we have mobile lives. That's all I have no bias for ebooks and users, providing I have a choice. That book fits in my hand, the DVD next to it, can reference, flick through, bookmark in seconds and sits next to my laptop and desktop or on my lap. Just my thoughts. You know more about this than me and strife. I think you get treated not fairly. Not sure why they took so long to publish your book given Martin Evening's book came out earlier. Out of my loyalty, no decision to consider that yet, and this is for photography, which I love, fine, but creativity is a major passion for me which your books cover. Sorry if misrepresent anything here, but for me the outcome is a fine book and DVD I can consult whenever I want. You have my support with your endeavour to achieve this, appreciated. Trevor |

Good work Trevor!, I hope to grab a copy this week. Steve, an idea for a FC.. "Trevor's World" I imagine it be a wonderfully surreal place ![]() _________________ “Art Is Never Finished, Only Abandoned.” |

Interesting idea Artwel. But as Steve says "don't encourage him" viz me. We have lots of great artists here including you of course. Talking of surrealism, Dali was one of my heroes and probably changed my outlook on art a long time ago. I like the others too. Connection. My dad loved him as well. I can still do "serious" technical stuff. I'd better go. Your welcome to my world, but if you knock on the door the landlord might have turned the lights out (metaphorical of course) ![]() I think I understand Dali. Great works and emulated parts of his in my stuff. If not directly, just like other artists, its nice to know we are not alone. But the books by Angela Carter really got me spinning. When I started reading her books the images start forming, like REM dreams, but does not mean I understand. If you think I'm "strange" dip into her work. Recommend have a look at some of her titles, but might not want to open the box... ![]() She is not with us any more unfortunately. Wish I could have met her, but sure not mutual, well maybe she would have...? Do get Steve's latest book. I've not been through all of it of course. We dip and dive, but I do like it and generous on his DVD, including earlier tutorial versions he's moved to create extra printed space. |
