Layer Mask
As I had posted in another forum (or was it this one ) . I bought the book HTCIPS-CS6 , only to convert to Creative Cloud a week or so later , (perfect plan huh ?) . Anywayz , HTCIPS cs6 ..> Layer Mask 4 : auto masking > Pge 91> step 3 >2nd sentce. [To add more colours to the selection , hold "shift" and click on them] (working on Ps CC ... reading CS6) before the above-mentioned got me scratching my head a bit , what I did was at the preliminary colour selection , zoomed-in the image as much as I could and placed the eye-dropper as close to the tree (hoping i'd get to the fringes before they get me :whistle ... Nope - nogo , fringes still there ! Ok , back to the book , step three , "Todd more colours .... " Hmmm ... I'm already masked out ... do I go back to Colour Range ? .. step 4 says "yes , you may" ... but going back , I'm given the already masked out image , and upon clicking the "other colour" I'm finding myself given a whole new st of selection -instead of the "other colour" only - Where am I going wrong ? Or am I going wrong at all ? Thank you in advance vahn |

Re: Layer Mask
If you're having difficulty selecting the tree fringes, it's probably because you have the Select Color Range dialog set to Localized Clusters. It this possible? This limits the selection to the area around where you click. It can be hard to hit those colours right by the leaves. You may find an altogether easier way is just to paint over them in Color mode so they don't stand out so much. |

Re: Layer Mask
Thanx Steve "Localized Cluster" .... After re-doing the whole process from zero , and keeping in mind the "L/C" , dialog box , by default the L/C is unticked , however , by ticking in , (out of curiosity) , I found that it got rid of a lot more , though not all ,grey fringe than otherwise . Here is something I did afterwards . Placed a black-filled layer under the masked tree , with magic wand Tol.16 Contiguous unticked , clicked on grey fringe cleaned up the selected branches with Quick selection tool , then I went to colour range in the "select" and cleaned up the remainder of leftovers , Apply mask , duplicate 2 or three times ... Bingo !! ... Worked for me . Once again , thank you |
