Contest 25: Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
Ho ho ho! Yes, even I can't escape the festivities, it's getting on for Christmas and I really must get some shopping done. Amazon to the rescue, once again! Here's a great Dickensian bay window I photographed the other day. The man walking past shouldn't be too hard to get rid of - but this seems to be the perfect opportunity for you to brush up on your snow and ice techniques. Oh, I'd like some decorations too, please. A yuletide feast is required - don't hold back! High res is here.  |

Rather than clone out the man I thought I'd keep him in as a passerby I also got rid of Jessops I don't think the Victorians were all that clued up on digital cameras and film processing

The snow was created by creating a new layer filled with 50% gray and quite a lot of Guassian Noise (about 50%) the Blending Mode of that layer was set to Lighten by doing this only the white pixels will be visible and it gives the impression of a heavy blizzard. Add some Motion Blur to give a little direction to the snow. Then select the Eraser Tool (E) set it to a soft brush and low opacity and gently erase out much of the snow around the main centre of interest. Then to add a bit more realism create a new layer just above this snow layer and with a soft brush set to White dab in various sized snowdrops here and there set the opacity to around 80% or so as suits you. You may wish to add a small bit of Motion Blur as well and there you have it. _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

Ver 2 Well the weather got worse so we had a few more and put uip some lights I can't load it though because it's too big.
