Contest 143: Reach for the Sky
It's nearly the end of April, which means Gordon (GKB) is only days away from his retirement. It's a significant time in anyone's life, so I thought we should mark it in suitable forum style.

As you may be aware, when he's not shuffling pixels on his screen Gordon is, for the time being at least, an air traffic controller. Seems to me this offers huge potential for some mild ribaldry!

Gordon's sent me a couple of pictures for you to choose from, as well as a view of the control tower where he works: high res are here, here and here. Take your pick!

Wow! Congrats on the retirement, Gordon! You know, I can see you as a paint and palette kind of guy! What do you think? Or are oils and acrylics not your thing?

Thank you Pierre, I was about to remove it. On my machine (after posting) the action is slower and disjointed, most disappointing, and puzzling.

James, just saw this... and I agree with Pierre, very cool! Though the animation shows as slow and disjointed for me as well, I was impressed by the work... watched it a couple of times! I especially like what you did with the shadows ! very cool!

hi-liter! Thank you for the comments. I was wondering how it displayed for other viewers, beginning to think about file size, to large perhaps?

Tried reducing the file size, made no difference. (Reverted)

The animation plays good for me (i use firefox as my browser) do not know if that makes a difference.
I really like the way you paid attention to the details of the shadows.

Very nice work,

Very nice work,

2bfree,
You have a point about the browser; certainly animations in web pages do not always play well on some. Your comments are welcome.

Re: Contest 143: Reach for the Sky
True. I use Opera and the animation was good. a tad big, but i can shrink the image size within Opera, so not a problem.

Happy retirement, Still in cChina, so no entry from me this week. They could do with a traffic controller on the roads here. Never seen traffic like it. And driving shows total disrespect for rules, busses, cars, bikes and pedestrians, Like really fast dodgems, and no safty belts. If you are more than an inch away from anyboyd sideways or infront, you have obviously left too much space.
