Contest 145: The robot head
My brother recently brought me back one of these rather nifty robot hands from a trip to New York. Turn it on, and the fingers move more or less in time with a piano soundtrack. Well, the batteries ran out fairly quickly, and to be honest I haven't replaced them. What I do like about it is the fact that you can see all the cogs, wires and electronics through the transparent hand. And it set me thinking: could we build a robot head to match the hand? I just happened to have this glass head lying around (sorry it's so dusty) and thought we could give it a go. It's not an easy project, so do feel free to put the head to other uses if you prefer! High res is here. |

Re: Contest 145: The robot head
this would of course be a lot easier to do in a 3d application......but doing it in photoshop will be a real challenge .. |

Do it Gordon, I think we are all on the same boat this week. It's good to see how others see it. Tom, I love the glass texture. I have a hard time with convincing glass. You nailed it man, nice job! tooquilos, I like the separation. Mine is no so convincing. Too much distortion I think. Nice one! _________________ Steve Mac |

You're too hard on yourself Steve. It's a great job, and I love the 'internal workings' |

I had fun with this one. Got out my daughter's anatomy book to start out and then it took on a life of it's own after that. _________________ Pauline |

Thanks Wayne. I know what I want things to look like but I don't know the technique to get the results. A little frustrating. _________________ Steve Mac |

When I was little, I thought my brain was like a big library full of books to check and store information. It probably is, but these days I think I have lost the index. |
