Contest 216: Water tower makeover
I spotted this water tower when I was in France in the summer. A lot of these things - in England, at least - are being converted into homes these days. Although this isn't a particularly pretty example of the genre, I'm sure it could make an excellent dwelling with the right sort of care and attention.

Anyone fancy a spot of architectural remodelling?

High res is here.

Gerard that is wickedddd! Very clever thinking, I love it!

(A thousand apologies for my utterly lousy perspective and other flaws in this one. It looked great in my head but it proved a right pain in the whatsit to actually do. Bah. But it didn't stop me laughing like a drain over it anyway. I'm such a simple creature really. )

(Edit: Should have posted both my entries together last time - sorry Steve!) Shadows are lousy in this one.. I'm not having a good challenge this time

(Edit 3: I'm done now.. honest. Again sorry about the shadows, I freely admit that I can't do them...)

Would a watery water tower make a big splash in the countryside?

The French just used it for a water tower, but when it was sold to Australia they had grander ideas for its use.

I used a photo I took of a lighthouse just off the Great Ocean Road in Victoria as the source image. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the lighthouse

EDIT: Google maps is a wonderful tool. It's called Split Point Lighthouse for anyone interested.

I don't think I've seen them turned into homes here in the US yet, but I have seen them used for storage buildings and fire houses. One of the problems that we have here is, they tend to be made of metal, and are real attractive to lightning. Ouch!!!

Back to Texas - January 21, 2009.

A big whoops this week. Crawfordville is a small town south of Tallahassee that I drive to twice a week. I don't want to repost, but the sign now says "Crawford."

If we strap on a few items and make some modifications, we can make ourselves an inexpensive space station.

Some gorgeous entries this week !
Did you do all the imagery Nick or is it a collaged illustration from somewhere else?

Edit:
I have slightly tweaked mine and will repost
