Contest 225: Murder mystery
I was cycling through the City of London last week when I came across Charterhouse Square, which contains not just the 12th Century Charterhouse (the square itself is the site of a plague pit, which is why it can't be built on) but this rather splendid 1930s apartment block.

Fans of the TV show Poirot will recognise it as the Belgian detective's headquarters, known in the series as Whitehaven Mansions.

Of course, for the series they added a load of extras in 1930s costume, as well as vintage cars... and what sort of dastardly deeds could be going on behind all these windows? Time to get the little grey cells working.

High res is here.

Do we have an image Steve? I cannot see one, but perhaps our server is hiding it.

Interesting. I have been watching the re-runs of Poirot recently. I always wondered where that apartment block was.

Re: Contest 225: Murder mystery
Thanks folks - I'm not particularly quick - I just obviously have too much time on my hands -

The first entry was made for the second image really - and now its on the big screen I can see it is a very rough job,
I seem to have unaccountably omitted to remove some of Poirot's background and the pixelation is wrong - so I guess you can have it cheap, have it fast, or have it good ...
Luckily those oversights have mellowed out in the second entry - how forgiving photoshop can be !

Indeed Josephine. The film 'Dracula' was released in 1931 and the Count was played by Bela Lugosi. Although they didn't have the wonderful special effects we have today and had to make do with rubber bats, there is something about the film which puts a tingle down the spine. I've not seen the film for many years, but in my view he was the most convincing Count of all time. Unfortunately, I could only find a relatively low res image of him.

Thanks Josephine.

I did'nt even think it was surreal!! .... but strange, yes, Dali was one of my fundamental influncial artists (he even wrote a book, which was really weird, but I can't forget it!!). Try Angela Carter. She stretches my imagination.

If I can complete the next 3rd image, I hope you find this even more surreal, and actually it should be funny. (The 1st failed).
