For that you win a Blue Peter Badge, Trinity
And I'm guessing 20 layers - what do I win if I'm right?

Thanks Maiden.

It's actually 43 layers (44 if you count the unused, hidden one).

It probably could have been done with less (a little more forward planning, maybe) but there are a lot of elements

Don't even ask. I don't even know why I did it.

I like it though.

P.S. Sorry 'bout the lo-res image; I am waiting to get my domain name and thus have to attach my file onto the post.

Re: Contest 4: Return of the dragon
Josh, I do like what you have done there, and it was also my initial thoughts that the bottom hand of the dragon does in fact look like a mirrorer reflection of it's top half - so your dragon looks lovely floating on it's lake - or am I reading your image wrong and it's blue grass?

Droo31k, how original - it's a good job we have the firefighters as dragons are the cause of so many forest fires, you know

I hadn't seen it like that but yes, you're right, and it would be fairly easy to flip the top half of the dragon to complete the reflection. Anyone feel like trying out this approach?

Actually, it was blue grass...it could have been a lake though.

I believe I was aiming for "really bad, off-color sci-fi movie" at first but then I just cut loose and got that final product.

Re: Contest 4: Return of the dragon
The end of another great contest, with some truly fine entries. You all buried the dragon convincingly into the forest, which is what I was after - but, as I expected, you added plenty of originality of your own.

A startling display of fire from Tabitha (loved the knight on horseback too, the angle is perfect), Russ (I see those boiled eggs are becoming a regular feature in your work! - great smoke, too. EyeCandy?), Maiden's first go (me with my toasting fork - ha!) and Droo31k (those flames are shooting up just right, and the firemen are a nice touch). Ryan, you seem to have a bit of a problem working out which end of a dragon the flames come out. Still, at least it's not trapped wind.

Great texturing on the dragons, too, from Russ, Droo31k especially - and the overall watercolour feel from uk2usadaz, for some reason, works really well in the Doctor Who setting. A neat fantasy approach from joshspazjosh, some nice recolouring there, giving rise to the second entry by maiden - who used the fact that the two hands are symmetrical to make one appear to be a reflection of the other. But look how well she's blended in the rest of the reflection!

A truly delicious approach from Trinity of one, who's gone to great lengths to reproduce a Blue Peter diorama. For those of you living in the US and elsewhere, Blue Peter was the kids' show we grew up with in England, which featured a regular slot of stuff you could make out of scrap materials - which certainly gave me the inspiration to start building these junk models, and probably turned most of us onto Photoshop too, in a roundabout way.
