2Bfree! That is so sick! I wish I'd thought of it. Don't worry Jefferson, you can get away with running round in your underpants when you're six - its when you're forty six that it's more of a problem! _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Contest 108: The invisible man
I played for ages trying to decide which was the right blending mode and which layer should have this or that transparency. I figured that this version was ok so here it is! ![]() |

Old soldiers never die, they just fade away. That is, except for their hairpieces. Stunning work SnowDog! How do you make those invisible people GKB? ![]() |

Re: Contest 108: The invisible man
Sorry to re-post this one but there were a couple of things that I just couldn't live with. Last time - promise! Neal - The original character was done in Poser. Drop that image onto your background image, select the character and choose the background image. Command - J to put that selection on another layer. Save the file. Hide the character image. Now delete everything except the Character then desaturate that image, blur it slightly and Save As a new .psd file. That is your displacement map. Re-open the first file and choose the layer with the portion of the background that you had made earlier. Go to Filter>distort>displace and choose your new displacement map. The selected portion of background, the chracter and the displacement map should all be in register. Depending on the settings you chose when you selected 'displace' you may find that you have some overspill in which case select the character, inverse and delete. That will get rid of the overspill. That done reshow the character image and choose a blending mode that suits your particular image I realised that I should have blurred the background slightly to make the Invisible man more visible hence this new posting. Hope you can make sense of all that. If not come back to me ![]() |

Re: Contest 108: The invisible man
Meguyer's ready brek effect is surely caused becuse the invisible man is moving away from us causing a red shift in the light that is bent round him, part of the doppler effect. _________________ Corners are just bent straight bits. |

Re: Contest 108: The invisible man
Neal, Thanks for your comments - glad you like the image. I forgot to mention that I gave the distorted image an internal glow of white bumped up to quite a high value to better define the edge and to absorb the character image. As an inveterate tinkerer trying to always improve an image I ran the character and its distorted background through the plastic wrap filter and came up with something even better if you want to try that. |

Doesn't work as well as the earlier postings but I thought that perhaps ought to post this as Steve is 'invisible' for a couple of weeks. ![]() |
