Homework extension

We've had some serious forum problems this week, as many of you who have been trying to access using Internet Explorer will know. I'm aware that a lot of members have been unable to get on here for most of the time, so I'm taking the unusual step of extending this Friday Challenge for a further week to give you all the chance to take part.

Apologies to those who entered early, it does mean you'll have to wait another week for comments!

Actually the case belongs to one of Bond's adversaries from 'the other side'.

Gordon, I don't know about polonium 210, that looks suspiciously like polony to me!

Neal, I lik'Q! Very funny!

Yay! Maiden is back! Great idea, nice picture!

GKB, very "d'actualité". But I've heard that you need to ingest that stuff for it to kill you...

Thank you Pierre and BigVern. This is a terrific Friday Challenge.

I'm so happy to see Maiden back, Friday Challenges have not been the same without her.

This is the first time I have drawn everything from scratch - and I don't think I'll be doing it again in a hurry!

Re: Contest 125: The gadget box
Sorry about the forum misbehaving last week - hopefully, you've all had a chance to get stuck in this week. And we've had some great entries, too.

First to unlatch the briefcase was newcomer sgt.christie, with Bond and Q examining the contents of our case, The two figures interact with the case well - I particularly like the way Bond's hand is coming over the top of the case. The perspective on the table (and the passports) is a little dodgy, not quite matching the case; it's a tricky one to get right, especially as the case has been photographed from a side angle. Worth putting a little texture and some shadows on the table to make it look more realistic: but a good first entry. Welcome to the forum!

A fun-packed case from Ben Mills, with a variety of foreign newspapers and a gun nestling perfectly in the mix. This is very neat work - the reflection of the case is especially good, and gives a really strong sense of the surface of the table. Good work, Ben!

Unusually, Pierre has given us an animation - and it's Bond's car morphing into a, er, mini (as you might expect from Pierre). I see Bond has morphed into a different man as well! Damn clever, Q.

An interesting couple of cases from michael sinclair, who's clearly most interested in the Bond Girl aspect of the whole espionage thing. Not entirely sure of the interaction between the two cases here, Michael! And there's a rather diminutive girl in the second entry - those champagne glasses are bigger than her head! But you've certainly redeemed yourself with the third entry , a classy animation that works beautifully. Great closed lid on the case! Nice work!

He's got the whole world in his hands - or so dave.cox would have us believe. Is this Moonraker remade? I'm particularly intrigued by the case itself, which seems to be bottomless - is it supposed to go right through the desk? There must be hidden meanings here...

A beautifully packed case from james, who's given us a Bond who clearly doesn't trust the local food. Excellent fitting on all the items! And a very tasty second entry, even if the case is a little diminutive compared to the hands. An entertaining third entry too!

An exceptionally well integrated case from Deborah Morley - I do like the stainless steel olive jar. A very neat solution!

Bond girls surface again in vibeke's entry, with Ursula Andress emerging genie-like from a puff of smoke. James doesn;t seem to be that interested, though!

A clasy image, and a very classy reflection of the case, from Whaler. Good getting in all those portraits of Bonds gone by: is that an oil spill over Pierce Brosnan's mouth? Interesting gold effect in the second entry - although I think I'd have taken the colour off the windscreen.

A most entertaining image from jwhite, who has replaced Bond with Austin Powers - complete with a penis pump in its specially crafted case. Are you making a point here, John?

As Babybiker suggests, Ian Fleming pinched the name James Bond from an aithor of a book on birdwatching - and it's good to see it fitting so well in the case, complete with sandwich and pen. Neat camouflage on the outside of the case! And the West Indies backdrop is thoroughly appropriate. And I do like the Swiss Army PDA in the second entry: drawing objects from scratch is always tricky, but well worth the effort.

Q-in-a-box: that's Neal's entry this week. A great mixture of limbs, although I'd have liked a little more shading inside the box. And are Q's feet really that large?

Great to see maiden back, it's been a while. I love the idea of all these Bond masks ready for me to try on - and impressed, in particular, by the skill of the reflections. Hmm... I think I'll be Sean Connery today...

A great topical entry from GKB, with a canister of Polonium not-so-safely encased in its lead container. A good glow, and a neat reflection too. So let's see... GKB is an anagram of... good grief!

A great gag from Glen, with an elderly Sean Connery displaying his prized wig - very fine stuff! Those hands fit the case perfectly!

I loved 2bfree's robotic Bond: the spare components in the briefcase suggest that his head isn't quite finished yet. But it certainly makes sense for Q to build his own secret agent as well. Now if only it were reflected in the car body...

I really enjoy seeing past Challenges resurrected - and BigVern has given us six in the one case. Great arrangement of objects, with a perfect perspective (and some very subtle shading) on the lava lamp: details like the shadow of the sunglasses work exceptionally well. A great curl on the paper, too, and even the tricky distortion of the white van looks good here. This is excellent work, BigVern - and justly deserving of a title for you. Let's see now... I think it has to be Q Quipper for this one alone!

Entertaining work this week, everyone. Now go and see the movie, it's excellent.
