Re: Contest 137: Finish the job

Newcomer katew says she's only been using Photoshop for three weeks! hard to believe

Thanks Steve! I had used Photoshop before, but only for really simple stuff like cropping photos and a bit of colour balancing. It's your book that's made the difference - I worked through the lot in three weeks and learned a hell of a lot. I'm now officially a photoshop addict!

I agree about the shadows - the ones I did put in should be a lot stronger as well, as the light's very bright.

Is it just me, or has the site been down all week? I downloaded the picture to do last friday, and this is the first time that I have been able to get into the forum since.

It hasn't been actually down for me, but it's been displaying a bit oddly at times - column widths have been wrong and that sort of thing.

Sorry about the forum being down! This was a problem that only affected Internet Explorer, and I thought it had been fixed.

If any of you want another week on this one, go ahead - I'll write up comments next Friday.

Mine has been down too all week, and I use safari at home on my mac. and firefox at the office. Hadn't been able to connect with either. But here's mine after the fact. lol. Your office is ready, Mr. Caplin.

Your welcome, Steve Mac, We tend to forget some of the tools when we get used to using our favorites. This "Blend If" one is becoming one of my favorites so I must pay attention and remember the others. LOL!!

All week I've been getting an 'Easyspace configuration error' message. From home on IE and from work on Safari

For what it's worth, if anything.

I don't know if this helps but I have IE; however, I make Google my homepage, and Norton 2006 Security my "security". I also pop in to the forums three or four times a day, and only had one short spell of not getting in.

James,
I do like your gif entry, and I discovered a trick the other day that gets rid of that horrible "posterizing" effect: after clicking "save for the web" you find yourself in the Image Ready interface where you can change the default 64 colours to 256 colours. Isn't that great?

Michael,
I have the same basic setup as you, but I also use Firefox and I couldn't get in for almost a full week, from Friday night until Friday morning. I tried both IE and Firefox several times a day. And this on two different computers, one at home and one at work. Strange!?

Re: Contest 137: Finish the job
A couple of late reports, due to the site being down for a while for some members.

An astonishing feat of panelling from Ben Mills, who has made a fantastic room out of this bare shell. The furniture's perhaps a little big for the size of the door, but the quality of that window blind is excellent: a real sense of translucency there.

A cool entry from Dirtdoctor23, the walls bedecked with Test Yourself entries from the book. And that huge wall-mounted plasma screen is exactly what I need! The desk and chair seem a little small compared to the door, wouldn't you say? But excellent flooring, and the styling of the door itself is first rate.

A highly textured room from james, with some great furniture (love the twisted glass table) and agood door effect. I really should look out for one of those animated basketball posters, too!
