Re: Contest 234: Trafalgar Squared
Here is mine:

"Oh it really is a wery pretty garden
And Chingford to the eastward could be seen;
Wiv a ladder and some glasses,
You could see to 'Ackney Marshes,
If it wasn't for the 'ouses in between..."

Of course "municipal planting" (the sort of thing you get in public parks) is considered vulgar and unfashionable, but then .... sometimes so am I

Sorry that I've not been participating lately fixing my computer after a nasty virus/crash which caused me to lose all my images including the commercial ones I got from THEFULLMONTAGE.com which was a bit devastating. So starting from scratch again after reloading my programs, drivers etc.

Oh Becky, how dreadful. Apart from all the work of setting the computer up again to have to start replacing all you images. No matter how much we back up there are always things we miss, and with the drives getting larger and larger it's almost impossible.
Good luck and look at the good part, you must have got rid of a lot of rubbish too.
Vibeke

That's true and I only have myself to blame for all the losses because I just got too lazy to do backups regularly and probably felt that I was pretty secure so everything would be fine - well it's a lesson learnt I'll just have to be more careful from now on.

I'm very sorry to hear that Becky . I've had some problems, but not so misserable. Vibeke is right about the one positive point. But: I've recovered the data, but can not find it since the folder structure was lost ... not vital though

Here is another attempt. Think maybe I needed some of that tonic from Steve H

........ The traffic was getting too low. The government needs some £/$s ^10 from congestion charges to pay the banks(sic) ( not funny, but hope we can live our lives without too much more pain),

.........so to continue, exported some traffic, as well as a bit of Stone Forest to slow it down more, and get tolls on the bridges !!

Thanks for the kind comments on my dream city (I may stop watching the news). And Josephine, we inhabitants of Vulgaria appreciate your flowers.
Hey! Wait a minute! I can retitle my composition! I call it The Great Collapse That's how to make bad news spark creativity.

Becky !
My heartfelt commiserations! Last year my hard drive self -destructed and I lost much work that (although very complex) I had neglected to copy onto disc.
In the spirit of shutting the door after the horse had bolted (if Jota will excuse the colloquialism) I bought a big memory stick and now assiduously update it every week or so.

How did you catch the virus ?

The virus came with some spam email which isn't something I usually get so I didn't pre-scan it and before I had realised what had happened it spread through the computer affecting Norton preventing it making live system scans whilst it worked it's way through my computer. Lots of virus scans could only quarrantine the worm which I suspect had infected the whole computer before it was quarrantined. So we Restored to an earlier point and although that worked it was at the lost of everything as it restored to it's default setup that was on the computer when we bought it.

So the lesson is don't open email if you don't know who sent it.

*shrug*

Blimey!
I didn't realise that you can get infected just by opening an e-mail - was it downloaded to your computer or would it still have infected your computer if you had opened it on the e-mail site ?

Thats awful Becky. Seems like such a waste of time and how do people benefit by doing such things, i dont understand it. A few years ago, my computer was hijacked and every page that opened was a porn site.!! Took me and microsoft technicians a week to get rid of it all. Initially I had blamed my son, thinking he was visiting these sites covertly, but as it happened I realised it wasnt him. He still hasnt forgiven me for blaming him
