Great ideas. And now, back to balloons - or maybe just appreciate the lovely weather! |

Some great ideas her. I've struggled for inspiration. This is a very rushed last-minute offering. _________________ Man cannot change the direction of the wind but he can adjust the sails |

Re: Challenge 361: 100 uses for an Air Truck
First to adapt the truck this week was Nick Curtain, with a splendid Punch and Judy show. I like the way the striped material casts its shadow on the truck, and the neat fitting of the opening into the mouth of the device. Something about the bottom edge of the material doesn't look right, though: perhaps it's as simple as needing a hem? The truck does work rather well in red. I was very amused by brewell's entry, matching the animated sculpture from a couple of weeks ago. I like the way the expansion builds up in the truck, rising up through it before bursting out. There's a real sense of lively action here, Bruce - looks like you're really getting into this animation thing. A terrific idea from Eggbox, with the truck as mobile screen holder. I must admit, this is the idea that occurred to me when I first saw it - and there it is, nicely integrated into the scene at the Vatican. I kind of like the way only the man in the red shirt is watching it, too. Nice one, Ted. A clever idea from tooquilos, as the truck hurls popcorn from the oven where the cab used to be. Shouldn't that popcorn be on more of a curved projection, though? I like the way it appears in short bursts in the animated version - and the exuberance of the performer! A terrifying scene from jimbean - those mobile shark mouths really are horrific! But they're so ludicrous, it's really funny. The running people work well, giving the scene a good sense of drama. Just one thing: does it make sense to set the lettering vertically? If it were set normally, and then rotated, it would be much clearer. Oh - and this isn't the place for a serif font! PDelavigne's solution is to use the truck as a testing facility at an umbrella factory - note the bucket for 'fails'. A great assembly of kids and umbrellas: they all look as if they're holding them convincingly, and I like the one with the broken umbrella who's falling into the ball pond. A great idea, nicely achieved. A first Friday Challenge entry from arya051, with a neat space theme - but rather too small to see clearly. I'd like to see this and the second entry larger, as you managed with the third entry. It's a clever piece, with the Matrix lettering and the added science fiction elements. Just one thing: the perspective of the truck doesn't match the view of the planet, which needs to be far less curved, with the horizon lower in the frame. (You'll find I bang on about perspective a lot round here.) Welcome to the forum! Outstanding work from LagoDiLecco: that truck blends amazingly well with the rest of the kids' cars, a clever and painstaking match that has produced perfect results. A great idea, Alice - immaculately created. A nice animation from michael sinclair, with a massive version of the original truck. There's a really good sense of movement here, both in the scrolling background and the gently bumping truck. Small point: you've got the tyres rotating, but I'd really like to see some spin on those hubcaps, which just look too static. Interesting to see the original road - I wouldn't have believed it could be deformed to this extent. I like Garfield72's implementation of the truck as a diving board holder - very neatly achieved, especially the way we can see the clouds through the windows at the back. I like the slide, the kids and the water splash, but the kid at the bottom of the slide is very much bigger than those in the pool: perhaps you should have taken a section of the pool and enlarged it? A very green recycling device from JmarcP, which apparently sucks in trash and churns out potted plants. Now there's a good idea! I'd like to see more sense of the rubbish being sucked in, though - it's not clear at present which way it's going. And the truck really needs a shadow! Subtle work from Deborah Morley, whose truck is a viewing platform at Jurassic Park - and you can just see the last spectator, very neatly slotted into the beast's mouth. I like the view of the driver, almost hidden behind the window. And that's a particularly find specimen of T Rex you've found there! James's daredevil motorcycle riders are privileged to have their own ramp to leap from - great movement of the bikes, and I like the way the truck appears and raises the platform. The shadow at the rear needs a little adjustment, though. But good to see an ambulance on hand! A smashed-up truck from tissana - and what a beautiful piece of work this is, full of detail. I liked the distorted hydraulic pipe, the bent cab, the smashed windscreen, the loose headline, the ripped bumper, the fallen window, the chewed bodywork and the battered door; but it's the delicate handling of the black and yellow tape that impressed me most. Fantastic work, Tissana, and certainly worth a title. So: do you like Thai Trickster? I'm not entirely sure what puffin31939's entry is - a radio controlled DVD player? But I know that when I was a child I'd have loved one of these. A curious choice of parchment background, though: this seems rather at odds with the nature of the machine being advertised! Maybe rearrange all that stuff and put it on a box? High surrealism from Emil (well, what else would you call a crow in a bowler hat). The eye is just a bit too bloody for my taste, but there's definitely a statement here. If only I could work out what it's saying. It seems joeysala is having trouble with image size! Hard to see what's going on here - is that Wall-E and another robot? And where does Eva come into it? I think I need to write a tutorial on how to save for the web. |

Yep - seems Wall-E has fallen for the Air Truck/Robot Thing. Tough luck, Eva. I didn't have trouble sizing before I got the new computer - nothing is quite the same..........bet I could benefit from that tutorial! Joey |
