Nice and imaginative Anna.

Superb Frank...superb!

Loyd, I like this one much better (like the moving water)...now if we could get the boat "bobbing" up and down, you could qualify for a "Gold Star" rating.

The Mariupol steel works.

Yes, I thought about the "bobbing" effect, but the physics involved to create it effectively required more effort than I was willing to put forward... needs not only "up and down", but a slight rocking movement front to back and side to side.

Thanks Loyd, Mariner, Michael.
I like the boat idea Loyd, makes quite the engine.
Great entry Mariner - now that's thinking outside the box -well done- like you said - lots of work indeed.

Easily missed, too subtle perhaps...

More to do with the size of my phone screen I think

I really like Mariners version of the stationary engine being used as a gun.
I have just posted a photo I took at The Malpas Steam show of another engine being used , the photo is of a 1910 version.
All the best from Neale

Clever bit of work Michael.

This third entry was an experiment: a lot of trial and a lot of error

Josephine, our friend here is none other than SBV333980492, stock footage from Videoblocks

Frank, that is possibly one of your best. Spectacular. Mariner, the farming machine as a weapon really works. Loyd - pure brilliance using it as a boat engine!

Re: Challenge 905: Farming equipment
Hello everybody.
Lovely images and clips.
I have been having endless problems with my pc. I know I have to re-format it but am reluctant to. The way I work, it takes months to re-install all my programs.

When attempting to do 3D, spend more time on planning, otherwise you will screw up the proportions.

This is my 3rd attempt. After many attempts and system crashes, I completed it last night only to forget the image at home. A much better version than this. So I threw it together at work and took a screen shot of it. Only just made it...I think...sorry Steve. You must be about finished already.

Re: Challenge 905: Farming equipment
First to repurpose the farm engine was Ant Snell, with a Pink Floyd tribute - it makes a great mincing machine. I like the image, but for me The Wall was a big disappointment after Wish You Were Here.

I enjoyed lwc's extraterrestrial space junk, with just the right amount of spin. I’d like to have seen that big window glazed, though. Plenty of accompanying toy rockets in the second entry, but I’m having trouble tying the space scene I’m with Soylent Green. It is still people, right? I like the oversized speedboat engine belching flame and smoke in the third entry.

A brilliant gag from, Josephine Harvatt, highly topical in the UK. A terrific perspective match between the engine and the room, too. (Massey Ferguson, for those unaware, make tractors.)

Topical and powerful work from michael sinclair: I like how the engine has been recoloured to blend in, and the tattered Ukraine flag hung over the steelworks (although that straight line between blue and yellow should perhaps sag a little). The pop-up soldiers pop up really well. Good stuff, Michael. And I like the jumble of rusting metal in the second entry. One small point here: when the empty claw goes from left to right, it should be tilted the other way so it lags behind its mounting point above. I like the rear explosion in the third entry; now sure about the wispy flames in the foreground.

An Egyptian scene from tooquilos, with the machine transformed into a mechanical cow. And very convincing it is too – all except for the perspective mismatch between the cow and the background. Vanishing lines! I like the tour in the animated version, starting with the excavation.

It’s back to space for Frank, transformed into a rusting water extractor on Mars. Very evocative! How did you do the 3D spaceship in the animated version? I didn’t know you’d moved into 3D as well as animation. I like the dust cloud as the craft arrives, and the refurbished engine. Fantastic soundtrack, too, with excellent music choice and spot-on sound effects. Brilliant, Frank.

An extraordinary repurposing from Mariner, the engine turned into an anti-tank weapon. I like the wreck of the steelworks in the background. But is that a Russian soldier, or a Ukrainian who has captured Russian equipment?

A late entry from dwindt, who has rebuilt the engine in 3D - amazing. The textures and degradation are fantastic. Dennis, at some point you need to make these models available for Anna, Gordon and Frank to work with!

Great work this week.

Thank you Steve. I would love to but I model to slowly. I'm open to a simple model and a week in advance to make something available. I'd love to see what can be done with them.

Thanks, Steve. The caption on the photo I downloaded claimed it was a Russian soldier, but the ambiguity adds to the interest.

Re: Challenge 905: Farming equipment
Thanks Steve, the spaceship was a Free 3D model I downloaded and to utilize it I had to add a camera and lights to put it into 3D space - as you know I toyed with 3D before in PS and Bryce but not in animation so there was a bit of experimentation required - far from being proficient at it yet. Takes lots of work in PS to get all elements prepared for the final composition.

Thabks Steve - I got lucky with the perspective - just needed an image flip and tinkering with the scale to make it look right

No connection with the space scene and Solyent Green, just an afterthought... "it's people", thanks.
