Loyd. I like this because she is so ordinary girl next door'ish. A year or so ago I picture researched mermaids for a challenge and discovered there is some seriously bizarre stuff to be found, both real and imagined. And that was before AI .......... _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Overall nice work everyone, and imaginative. Ben, naughty but nice - got a chuckle. Anna, love your 3 bears - Goldilocks theme. Loyd, nice Hans entry, and I see you are busy. David, detail is superb, lovely idea and execution. Nice illustration Gordon. |

Ah Steve must know I like this kind of challenge! I was spoilt for choice so I included three delightful entries. The third entry is all my own work. Don't forget to click on the MP4 icons |

Re: Challenge 1010: Who's been sleeping in my bed?
Here's one I made earlier ...... about fifty years earlier! This is only marginally relevant but I couldn't help remembering it, and it's fun! I shot this sometime in the mid 'seventies, long, long before HD TV so it's rather fuzzy. We used seven real dwarves (two of them women). They weren't actors and were vastly amused at themselves and each other being made up and dressed up like this and entered into the spirit of things in constant fits of giggles! It was very infectious and spread to the whole crew. One of the most entertaining days of shooting I ever had! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I think both are good. It's a matter of what you are aiming for. Totally subjectively and for no particular reason I prefer the second. Don't really know why .......... _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1010: Who's been sleeping in my bed?
First to take to their bed this week was Ant Snell, with a big bad wolf who’s really baaad. For those not from the UK, Wayne Rooney was a leading footballer who at 18 was involved in the ‘scandal’ of visiting a prostitute who happened to be a grandmother. She was 48! Nicely integrated, Ant, and probably a good thing to get out of your system. Two cute bears and one grumpy one from tooquilos, whose bed slides very neatly into that log cabin. That is a very odd mattress, though. Is that Elon Musk at the window in the animated version? Oh no – looks too female from the back. I like the roar. A definitely rather racy Little Red Riding Hood from Ben Boardman, who frankly looks a lot more bad than the big bad wolf. An excellent way of integrating the wolf into the pyjamas, the tail on the pillow being a real bonus. I like the grandmother counting her cash outside the window. Just one question: why didn’t you face LRRH the other way, to face the wolf? Or is the scene now postcoital? I’d been going to suggest using the Magic Eraser to take out the white from the veil, but I see you beat me to it. A fine view of the Hans Christian Andersen statue, with added bed from lwc. Did you take this yourself? In 1964? Gosh. I assume the animated version was hand coloured, or at least using AI… and it does work extremely well. The little flying things – moths? – really make it. The peas entry seems to combine a number of different stories, and I’m not sure your princess really fancies her frog. The underwater image is really well achieved, with the reflection on the underside adding a real sense of place. “Lots of you quick off the mark,” says DavidMac, before turning in an image that would have taken anyone else days to build. And it’s a glorious, hugely detailed image with so much going on it’s impossible to comment on every detail here, but I will single out the woman in the towel, the man in the shower, the boy climbing up to the ladder, the bow windows at the top, the spiral staircase and the children on the bridge as being of particular interest. Just one question: why does the woman in the kitchen have a bowling ball for a head? I enjoyed the Packmate commercial! What a strange life you must have led. The Gnot quite gnomes are still gnomes, David, however you dress them up in fancy animal costumes. Looks like GKB has had fun stacking mattresses for his book cover, with some very appropriate typography (but do remember to kern letters such as T and H together). The poor princess could certainly do with a ladder, though. I liked michael sinclair’s undersea bed, but feel it would have been better if part of it had been poking up above the waves. I wasn’t sure of the significance of the desert image until the missile landed – the same missile from last week, I notice – which of course made it firmly a Sinclair Special. I was entertained by the flameproof trees – favourites of yours, clearly – in the fire image. Dwarves! Wicked witch! Sleeping Beauty! Handsome prince! Frank's entry has all bases covered. I like how the witch is hiding behind the curtain. That prince really is unbearably smug, isn’t he. Good work, everyone. |

Yes it was after the event, (wolf smoking, grannie counting) I hadn't thought of using Magic Eraser on her panties (veil) I used blend if. That was fun Steve, thank you. |

Thanks. It was such fun to do!
My usual ability to miss the unmissable. The original is below. Reduction in size and the haze from the lamp have destroyed all the detail. Because I knew what she was I failed to look detachedly at what I had done to her. Photoshop tunnel vision again.
I think the only honest answer to that has to be "Yes". There are many stories - some really quite bizarre. Next time we meet, remind me to tell you about filming L. Ron Hubbard (the founder of scientology) on his yacht in Bizerte for Granada TV's "World in Action" and how the Tunisian police faked our arrests to get us safely out of the scientologists hands. It's definitely a 9 on the stranger than fiction scale.
Yes, but your bed in ceramic makes a fine garden decoration for them. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Was just a silly gag, or perhaps stupid... made the animation first and the created a faux infrared image. I've had the background for years and have used it more than once in the past. As a matter of fact, you can see it again in my 'Dragonfest' quickie entry. |
